Covenant Journey Tour of Israel Impacting College Students

Orlando, FL - This week Covenant Journey begins the second year of experiential summer tours of Israel for Christian college-age students who have leadership potential. Students from over 142 colleges and universities have participated in Covenant Journey. The students are from small and large Christian, private, and public colleges and universities, including Ivy League schools, such as Harvard, Yale, Princeton, Columbia, Dartmouth, and more. The twin goals of Covenant Journey are to strengthen the students' Christian faith and introduce them to ancient and modern Israel to be a goodwill ambassador for Israel. An alarming number of young people walk away from their Christian faith following high school, and when this happens, they always disconnect from Israel. Covenant Journey immerses students in the land of the Bible and connects them to the roots of our Christian faith. The Bible and Jesus become more real and meaningful. And, of course, in learning about ancient and modern Israel and the Jewish people the students fall in love with and become advocates for Israel.
The response from students has been overwhelmingly positive. Below is a sample of some testimonies:
"This trip has turned my world inside out. I began with what I thought I knew about the Bible... to being slapped in the face with the true REALITY of the life that Jesus lived for me. My faith was truly tested, and extremely strengthened. I am very thankful for this opportunity. I will never be the same." - Karley "This was one of the most incredible opportunities provided to me in college, hands down. I had always been in support of Israel but was seriously lacking the knowledge of both the conflict and the culture - so much so that it was preventing me from doing advocacy on my campus. On this trip I learned more than I thought I could, surrounded by students who just wanted to learn. It was a breath of fresh air, coming from my liberal, secular school..." - Brianna. "The trip has strengthened my faith and more importantly, the ability for my faith to continue to grow...." - Josiah "I will never be the same again!" - Rachel
Covenant Journey began as a project of Liberty Counsel in 2011. Following a series of meetings in the United States, Mat and Anita Staver spent a week in Israel meeting with a wide variety of government and academic leaders, including Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. In September 2011, Liberty Counsel launched the Liberty Ambassador Counsel VIP Tour, which was a unique program combining a typical tour with a wide variety of expert speakers from government, national security, military, academia, business and technology, and other sectors, including a Holocaust survivor. In May 2012, the LAC VIP Tour began including students and launched a summer internship program in Israel. In 2013, Covenant Journey was formed specifically for college students. In 2014, Covenant Journey began the first of many trips to Israel for Christian college-age students who have leadership potential. Qualified students pay $500 and the rest of the trip is underwritten, including air fare from New York, hotels, three meals a day, luxury tour bus, entrance fees, expert guides, spiritual leaders, and expert speakers.
