Dems have a message, and it's been rejected: Gun control, higher taxes, wealth redistribution, globalism over sovereignty, bizarro social engineering, and cradle to grave nanny-statism... The Democrat message, and most of America isn't buying it.

Mika and Joe trash Dems for having no message - but they're wrong.

That headline might be just a tad misleading. The Morning Joe super-team of Joe and Mika were discussing the Dems' failure in the GA06 special election, and they each had their opinions about why Ossoff couldn't get the job done. Both of them got close to being correct but, like Jon Ossoff, they couldn't quite get across the finish line. Chalk up another moral victory. According to Joe, Democrats are spending too much time protesting, and not enough time going door-to-door. As he puts it:
"I've been saying all along, if you need to do that, if it makes you feel good, then do that, but understand if you want to change America and you want to change the world, you're much better off going into districts campaigning for somebody - knocking on doors, handing them fliers, getting into phone banks, calling people, finding people, recruiting candidates - not that look just like you and think just like, but actually fit the district
...This is something Republicans decided to do years ago."
If he stopped here, he'd have at least part of a point. Unfortunately, he continued, saying "Marching in the streets? Great pictures. Makes you look good. Does not win elections." This is where he loses it. The screaming, shouting, rioting, marching, and protesting may make the left-wing base happy, but it doesn't look good on TV. In fact, for most of this country, it looks like a bunch of spoiled-rotten social justice warriors throwing a hissy fit because they lost an election. The optics are terrible, and it will continue to hurt Democrats as long as it continues. As for going house to house, that's fine, but Mika wants to know what you'll be peddling when you ring that doorbell. Marches, she says, "are great" but...
"you're shouting in the street. You're chanting. You're singing with people who agree with you. So going out and knocking on doors as you talked about gets you listening - and we're seeing the same problem we've seen all along. The same problem we saw when we had [Deputy DNC chair Keith Ellison] on the show, who just seemed to be going off and spouting, ‘Come on man, we're good. We're going to be good.' No. What's the message? What is going to bring people in?"

Mika is coming dangerously close to realizing a central truth of the modern Democratic party. They can't go door to door and honestly explain their goals, because those goals would be (and have been) rejected. Their "message" as she puts it, isn't something people want to hear. Gun control, higher taxes, wealth redistribution, globalism over sovereignty, bizarro social engineering, and cradle to grave nanny-statism - that's the Democrat message, and most of America isn't buying it. As I've written before, they're painted into a corner. If they soften their leftist leanings to attract the center, they'll infuriate the base. If they tack further to the left, to appease the base, they'll lose the center. The people currently running the party are, almost without exception, hardcore leftists. So, the plan has been to alter the makeup of the American electorate to create more Democrat voters. The majority of the country has had enough - and it's clear that Democrats have no solution for their predicament. That's music to the ears of anyone who enjoys watching them lose.
