America's favorite poor socialist

Poor ol' Bernie Sanders re-election campaign spent $40K on luxury private jets from July to September

Once upon a time, Bernie liked to remind everyone that he was the poorest member of Congress. Why that was something to brag about, I'm not sure, but it was one of his standard lines. Then we saw all the stories of multiple homes, lucrative book deals, and a nice post-election income bump. Suddenly, it became a lot harder to portray himself as good ol' disheveled Bernie the schlub - America's favorite poor socialist. To be clear, that's still his schtick. It's just tougher to sell these days.
His penchant for luxury private air travel probably isn't going to help his cause. It seems that in just three months - from July through September - the 'destitute' Vermont Senator spent almost $40,000.00 on private jets. From the Washington Free Beacon:
The campaign of Sen. Bernie Sanders (I., Vt.) spent nearly $40,000 on luxury private jet travel during the third quarter, according to Federal Election Commission records. Sanders, who has said global warming is causing "devastating problems" and is in favor of a carbon tax, made the payments for the posh private travel arrangements from his Senate campaign committee, Friends of Bernie Sanders, to Apollo Jets, a New York-based private charter company that is "dedicated to providing a luxury flight experience based on superior safety and exceptional customer care," its website states. The campaign spent $37,567.53 to rent the private charters during the third quarter, which runs from the beginning of July to the end of September.

Bernie's lavish air travel is exhibit B in the hall of left-wing hypocrisy. ...Exhibit A being the fact that he owns three homes

It's unclear which part of Bernie's tax plan would offer this service to everyone, but we assume it's in there. We all know Sanders just hates it when the one percent have access to the sort of gilded perks average Americans will never enjoy. For Bernie fans who suggest this may be nit-picking, I beg to differ. This is a prime example of every socialist's modus operandi. The prescription they offer the rest of the country - one designed to 'level the playing field' - is NEVER self-applied. They continue to enjoy their Gatsby lifestyles, while constantly lecturing the rest of us about the evils of wealth and encouraging us to make do with less. Bernie's lavish air travel is exhibit B in the hall of left-wing hypocrisy. ...Exhibit A being the fact that he owns three homes.
