Sources say John Conyers won't seek re-election due to harassment complaints

John Conyers won't seek re-election due to harassment complaints Detroit will, unarguably, be better off once the name "John Conyers" has faded into history. Nancy Pelosi's congressional "icon" has been a millstone dragging the city down for decades, so the faster he's gone, the faster the Motor City's recovery will go. That means his departure is a bit of bad news and a lot of good news for those hoping to see Detroit's resurrection continue. The bad news is that he's not leaving immediately. Also, when he does eventually walk away, he'll get to do so with the same pomp, circumstance, and retirement benefits offered to disgusting progressive "icons" like Ted Kennedy, Robert Byrd, and Bill Clinton.
The good news is that while he'll leave on his own terms, at least he's going to quit. That's according to multiple sources as reported by WDIV, Detroit:
Two sources close to the Conyers situation told Local 4's Rod Meloni that the congressman won't resign. It's his intent to announce in January that he won't run for re-election in 2018. His attorney said the allegations are not true, but Conyers is under increased scrutiny, and his family is rallying around him. Conyers caught a bit of a break Wednesday as the Congressional Black Caucus met in Washington and Chairman Cedric Richmond disputed the stories saying he is pushing for Conyers to resign.
Meanwhile, John Conyers' corrupt wife, disgraced Detroit city councilwoman Monica Conyers, was ambushed by reporters in front of her home. She dodged all the questions before throwing an absolutely pathetic race card, asking reporters "Do you just come to the black neighborhoods and stalk our houses?" Like I said, the faster the Conyers clan departs, the better. The truly depressing thing about Detroit is that, without question, Conyers would win re-election if he chose to run. That speaks volumes about the problems still facing the city. While the downtown areas are rebounding nicely, neighborhoods are still lagging way, way, behind. Until Detroiters move away from the mentality that allows people like Conyers to thrive, its residential areas will deny themselves the resurgence we've seen in the city center.
