President Obama’s administration is quickly evolving from bad to worse. Even without addressing the obvious policy flaws of the healthcare reform debacle (i.e elderly care degeneration, perfervid taxation, and fiscal irresponsibility in a time of economic collapse) the president’s modus operandi is becoming increasingly clear. The pieces fit together very nicely.
From Mr. Obama’s two decade long participation in an ardently anti-American radicalized church, to his associations with leftists, confessed terrorists, communists, and thugs; from policies that punish success and redistribute wealth, to knee jerk assumptions of racial profiling and social disparity, the portrait that is beginning to emerge of our President is somewhat startling. Heralded pollster and columnist Michael Barone opined in his most recent article that while the President does indeed have personal aura his legislative abilities are severely lacking. Barone is spot on and for one primary reason. Most left-leaning Americans tend to intellectualize their liberal progressivism; it’s a conscious choice that is chiefly geared toward combating perceived social disparity by bringing the disparaged into the fold. They are empathetic, not programmatic and see the benefits of the current system.
Unlike those “Grass roots progressives” Mr. Obama takes combating social disparity two steps further into a realm which first and foremost sees perceived social inequality and places little to no emphasis on American equality of opportunity in relation to the rest of the world. In other words, the President innately assumes an intellectual victimhood in most of the political processes in which he engages and actively disregards the inherent good in the status quo. This indoctrination blinds the President to many of the actual systemic flaws that are currently present such as rampant corruption in the legislative process, a fundamentally unsustainable fiscal policy, and a populace with growing mistrust for their government. Instead, the president myopically focuses on gratuitous expenditures which redistribute the nation’s coffers (whether borrowed or taxed) into areas in which he believes disparity exists. Despite evidence to the contrary (LBJ’s Great Society) the President pretends to believe that throwing cash at disparity will eliminate the problem.
It is not difficult to trace the roots of the President’s indoctrination. From all accounts his mother was a radical with a penchant for crusading against perceived social injustices. Obama’s childhood mentor Frank Marshall Davis was an open communist who championed monetary compensation for social ills (i.e. slavery reparations). In his two books Obama openly states that his college years were spent mingling with campus radicals and Marxist professors. In his years as a community organizer Obama followed Saul Alinsky’s “Rules for Radicals” and frequently brushed up against groups such as ACORN, which has been accused of voter fraud in at least 14 states, and the Annenberg Challenge which allocated grant monies for the implementation of socialist policy in the Illinois education system. Upon moving to Chicago President Obama joined the church of Jeremiah Wright, an adherent to the radical doctrine of Black Liberation Theology. Moreover, records indicate that President Obama was a member of the Illinois New Party in the 1990’s. The New Party was established as a means of recruiting leftist candidates and forcing the Illinois political center of gravity to the far left.
This lifelong pattern of behavior explains why polls are now indicating a dramatic decline in public support for the president. You just can’t hide who you really are forever. While a very vibrant intellectual left exists in the United States, a fringe also exists which many center left Americans simply do not identify with. The President’s supporters from this fringe, the “Obamabots,” abandon the early campaign rhetoric of pragmatism and nearly always trend to the far left regardless of the issue. This reactionary approach to policy making accomplishes one of the primary goals of fringe groups such as Obama’s former party, The New Party, by centering the debate so far left that when a compromise is reached the outcome is still acceptable to the ideology.
These strategies can be seen in numerous ways in the current debate on healthcare. President Obama frames the debate in a manner which suggests that healthcare inequalities from the bottom-up are somehow tied to our national fiscal solvency; creating panic and a false sense of urgency. However, the truth is that prolificate federal spending on subsidies such as healthcare are fostering the economic problems from the top down. Mr. Obama would have you believe that the majority of Americans are without healthcare coverage and are being saddled with burgeoning healthcare debts when in fact over 90% of American workers have health insurance and are satisfied with the care they receive. Mr. Obama never explains how suddenly injecting more than 12 million new patients into the healthcare system without simultaneously increasing the nation’s doctor supply is not going drastically increase the cost of medical care. He never describes the impact which forcing the small businesses that employ over 90% of Americans to carry the extra burden of universal healthcare will have on the overall economy. Moreover, the president certainly never draws the correlation between the impacts of his healthcare mandates along with the upcoming rise in minimum wage in relation to simultaneous effects on the business system as a whole . He doesn’t reveal how all of this shackles the American job creation machine to the bedpost of uncle Barack. He doesn’t tell you because the devistating ramifications of such recklessness are also a means to the President’s preferred end.
Obama never paints this political panorama because the big picture equals far too drastic a change in the structure of our nation for the average voter, even intellectual progressives, to accept. Obama himself has stated that he plans on “Fundamentally remaking America.” I think we should take him at his word. The healthcare debate is one of the last elements of this transformation. Obama’s revolution against the current system will be complete once the business class in the nation becomes responsible for paying for the basic care of the working class under the watchful eye of the omniscient federal shepherd. Once the bureaucracy is in place for such a system the foundation of American wealth generation can be incrementally redistributed from the top down through taxation and regulation with all dissent quashed under the thumb of the “They don’t want kids and the elderly to have healthcare” argument. This amounts to a federally mandated unification of the nation’s workers. Fredrick Engels would be proud!
Of course Obama’s cost estimations won’t tell you that right now. Under current projections Obama’s healthcare plan will only cost the business community a paltry $1.5 trillion over 10 years; not quite enough to force full reparations for generations of corporate exploitation of the American worker. However, numbers can be deceiving. During the last social revolution President Lyndon B. Johnson promised Americans that the total cost of Medicare would not exceed $9 billion over 30 years. The actual cost ended up being over $66 billion. It has been said that those who do not understand history are destined to repeat it. That is not entirely accurate in this instance.
Though cost estimates here will indeed mirror the gross underestimation of LBJ the end result will not be Washington D.C. business as usual. With national deficits nearing critical mass and the federal ship entering rocky waters one has to consider the real possibility of running aground. To figure out where the current captain will point the fleet of life boats after the big sink one only need examine previously established behavioral patterns. President Obama has proven himself time and again to be an adept ideological crusader. It would be a grave error to mistake his current economic recklessness as anything other than calculated. Americans should consider the notion that our current president may already be calculating a global society that is decidedly post-American.
