The intrepid Ronan Reilly from Australia, a champion for the unborn and harp of the Holy Spirit (he can sing Gregorian Chant like butter!) writes that Auckland, New Zealand is already celebrating 2014. To all my friends in New Zealand (and in the future!) salutations and happy new year.

But for those of us still here, in 2013, on the other side of the time line, don't neglect the opportunity to obtain form the treasury of the Church a Plenary Indulgence (applicable for you, or for the souls in Purgatory …the plenary indulgence is non-transferrable to someone living) for the end of the year. Under the usual conditions, a plenary indulgence can be obtained by the following means: 1) Sacramental confession within eight days 2) the prescribed good work (in this case, the singing or recital of the Te Deum) 3) Sacramental Holy Communion within eight days. 4) prayers for the intentions of the Roman Pontiff 5) a true detestation of venial sin (um … tricky!)
