Florida Democrat Braggadocio Mayor can't deliver promised votes

October 26, 2004

For all of his braggadocio, television star of Democratic election advertisement fame, Hialeah, Florida Mayor Raul Martinez may not be able to deliver the votes of his own city to presidential hopeful John Kerry.

With rhetoric that's "getting more vulgar" every day, the Cuban-born mayor seems to be turning the tide against his main man Kerry.

"Martinez says we Cuban-american Republicans are walking with blinders on and he has even called us horses," says Hialeah resident ana V. amador. "But with our 44,080 versus 17,000 representation, we Republicans are the majority."

a sworn member of the Democratic National Committee, Martinez, who appears in person on Democrat television ads, blasts Republicans for talking about Cuba but failing to deliver.

Keenly aware that Bush won Florida by a mere 537 votes in 2000, Democrats vow that this election will make 2000's Chad's look like so much window dressing by comparison.

Democrats intend to have as many as 10,000 lawyers ready to hit the ground running on Election Day.

On November 2, Martinez promises "to have attorneys everywhere, ready to go to court."

"Underpinning the effort is the conviction, submerged somewhere after Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks but now back with a vengeance, that in Martinez's words, "It was stolen last time. It was. It's a fact." (The Times Picayune, Oct. 10, 2004).

But Republican Hialeah residents like amador, who says, "We despise him" have their own election message for the overzealous Democrat mayor: "We can't wait till next year's (civic) election when we'll kick his butt out."

Republican Cuban-american of Hialeah, who noticed "there were only 15 election machines available for 78,450 registered voters, flagged the Diaz-Balert brothers.

"Now there are 24, not enough, but better than before," said amador.

While Martinez is throwing barbs at the Cuban-american Republicans, they are throwing the best weapon they have back at him: Daily prayers, as provided by the Center for Reclaiming america. Established by Dr. D. James Kennedy, the center is an outreach of Coral Ridge Ministries "to inform the american public and motivate Christians on the values on which our country was founded."

Politically-correct Democrats would be happy to know that the Center, led by Executive Director Dr. Gary Cass, provides "non-partisan", "non-denominational" information training and support to all those interested in impacting the culture and renewing the vision set forth by our Founding Fathers.

Mayor Martinez has not always waxed so zealous on the attributes of John Kerry.

at a Democrat conclave in Orlando last May, he said that Kerry's often aloof manner needed to undergo a radical change if he meant to connect with Hispanics.

"We can say all the good things about the Democrat party," Martinez said. "But if the candidate doesn't have it in his guts, and it doesn't show, people can't see it."
