Kerry campaign swings north to Canada

The John Kerry for President Campaign swung north all the way to Toronto last Sunday, with the candidate’s face looking out at Canadians from the pages of the Toronto Star, under the headline U.S. lacks political strategy in Iraq.

In his op-ed piece, Kerry criticized the Bush administration for its failure in advancing several plans for a transition to democratic rule in Iraq that proved unworkable before having to be abandoned.

The Kerry piece was the lead column on the Star’s opinion page. "Progress is not possible in Iraq if people don’t have the security to go about the business of daily life," Kerry wrote. "Yet the american military alone cannot win the peace."

The reason why Kerry would wander as far north as Canada in his presidential campaign may be found in Democrats abroad Canada (DaC), whose Toronto Pub Night happened to coincide with the publication of his Star column.

"In this, one of the most critical elections in american history, every vote counts," DaC proclaims on its website.

DaC is one of 35 county committees of the Democratic Party Committee abroad, which is part of the Democratic National Committee.

DaC hustles. On President’s Day, Feb. 13, their members set up shop in the front lobby of Toronto City Hall, where they registered voters for November’s presidential elections.

Their feverish attempts to throw George Bush out of office may be earthbound by the fact that their membership is contained to 2,300.

The paucity of DaC membership, however was not reflected in Kerry’s writings. "Because of the way the White House has run the war, we are left with the U.S. bearing most of the costs and risks associated with every aspect of the Iraqi transition. We have lost lives, time, momentum and credibility. and we are seeing increasing numbers of Iraqis lashing out at the U.S. to express their frustration over what the Bush administration has and hasn’t done."

The senator stated a case for the need to bring NaTO in. "We should urge NaTO to create a new out-of area operation for area operation for Iraq under the lead of a U.S. commander. This would help us obtain more troops from major powers. The events of the past week will make foreign governments extremely reluctant to put their citizens at risk."

When it comes to the United Nations, Kerry is humming the same tune. "The United Nations not the U.S., should be the primary civilian power in working with Iraqi leaders to hold elections, restore government services, rebuild the economy, and recreate a sense of hope and optimism among the Iraqi people."

The americans are going it almost alone in Iraq, says Kerry: "…"We must level with our citizens. Increasingly, the american people are confused about our goals in Iraq, particularly why we are going it almost alone."

Perhaps Newsmax.com got it right on the mark by asking: "Who is the real John Kerry?" in a special investigative report that reveals Kerry the Opportunist.

"It’s the story the media don’t want you to know," says Newsmax.com.
