Religion, Marriage

The Raging Battle for our Children

by Dr. Charles McVety, President, Canada Christian College and Canada Family action Coalition

February 4, 2005

The foundation of our faith is under attack, however, we have the power and responsibility to defend the cornerstone of civilization and preserve the "definition of marriage" for our children and our children's children. If Christians across Canada take a righteous stand and engage the power of Prayer, the power of the truth, the power of history and the power of democracy, marriage will surely be preserved for generations to come.

Marriage is the foundation of almost every element of Christianity. God's Word describes our personal relationship with Jesus Christ as a "marriage". It is the first level of the Church where we worship God and obey His commands. Marriage is the first level obeying Christ's command to love one another. It is the first level where we follow the great commission to share the Gospel by spreading the good news to family members. It is the first level of care where we clothe the naked, feed the hungry and care for the poor. Marriage is the first level of health care, education, civility and faith. Marriage must be defended.

"If the foundations be destroyed what should the righteous do?" Jesus Christ says "You are the salt of the earth; but if the salt loses its flavor, how shall it be seasoned? It is then good for nothing but to be thrown out and trampled underfoot by men. We can make a difference in Canada and preserve its flavor. If we take a stand against the forces that are attempting to change the definition of marriage we can win. We are on the winning side. "If God be for us who can be against us". The truth of the importance of marriage wins over the lies of deconstructionists. The history of the contribution of marriage to civilization triumphs over the untested experiments of the social engineers. The power of one person, one vote will over-ride self-interest and special interest. Ultimately marriage will be victorious.

We have a choice; allow extremists to tear apart the building block of society, or exercise God's Power given to us and defend the foundation. "are there fifty righteous among us". If so then God will be faithful to heal our land and give us victory. The battle for the souls of the children of Canada rages on. For the sake of our children and our children's children we must stand against the whiles of the Devil and having done all, stand.
