It's unanimous! What was once known only as "socialized medicine" in socialist nations, was not-so-long ago unsuccessfully marketed as "Hillary-Care" by then First Lady Clinton in the 1990s. Now it has a new name, "Universal Health Care" and every Democrat politician is on-board the pander wagon.
Pay attention now sheeple and march like good little dunces.
The folks in Washington DC, who gave you the HMO and subsequent sky-rocketing health care costs, have a solution to the problems in modern health care; problems that only they could have created to start with. Since dabbling in the health care system part-time, from their ivory tower in DC, has proven to be one of the most disastrous social experiments in US history, they have decided that the only cure is to take full-time control of the entire health care system for the greater good of all citizens. (Namely, for the greater good of themselves of course.)
It's called "Universal Health Care", but no matter what you call it, it "is", in fact socialized medicine. It is your federal government seeking full control over the second largest revenue stream in America. It is also the same people famous for government corruption and waste, red tape and perpetual vote pandering, who caused the health care crisis in America to begin with, seeking to seize control of the entire medical system at the federal level. It is greedy public servants looking to further expand their own power by playing doctor, nurse and surgeon and none of them are qualified! As if that matters...
From Hillary to Obama, from Edwards to Kucinich, from Kennedy to Pelosi and Reid, all of them want their dirty little hands in the deep pockets of the medical industry and they are all committed to selling you that idea under any name you are willing to buy it.
The Washington AP reports, "The time has come for universal health care in America," Obama said at a conference of Families USA, a health care advocacy group. "I am absolutely determined that by the end of the first term of the next president, we should have universal health care in this country," the Illinois senator said.
Obama's call was an echo of a speech he made last April when he said Democrats "need to cling to the core values that make us Democrats, the belief in universal health care, the belief in universal education, and then we should be agnostic in terms of how to achieve those values." The belief in socialist principles at odds with all American principles is how any honest person would say it. But he's just a politician; no expectation of honesty there.
Obama is just the latest to climb aboard the socialized medicine train. Hillary is the Mother Jones of Universal Health Care and Obama is stealing her shtick, along with her Hollywood contributors! Kennedy, Clinton, Kucinich and many other Democrats have been angling to get their mitts on this giant revenue stream for decades. Now they are unified in that endeavor and the public sheeple are lining up for slaughter.
Its official, we must now refer to the current American generation as the "what have you done for the sheeple lately generation". Or maybe the "ask not what you can do for your country, but what freebies can the sheeple get generation".
FDR introduced the notion that the average citizen should depend upon its federal government for every need in life with his New Deal, which fast became a "Raw Deal" for most Americans. Who knew this would become such a popular idea in what was once the land of the free, built by the brave, who once cried "give me liberty or give me death!" Today's Americans sing in unison, "screw liberty - give me free-stuff!"
Today, we are a nation of sheeple easily pandered to by politicians who are never quite finished expanding their own power at our expense. They have perfected the art of vote buying with promises of gifts from the federal treasury and too many Americans sit like baby birds with their mouths wide open, waiting for some Washington socialist do-gooder to vomit their next meal.
This is what it is to be "progressive" today. Conservatives, as in those seeking to conserve, uphold, defend, promote or exercise fundamental American principles and values, such as life, liberty and the pursuit of individual happiness by the sweat of their own brow, are the evil, greedy, morally ambitious sloths of modern American culture. Progressives are the future because they have all the communal answers to all of our personal problems and they think in communal terms; what's good for one is good for all, especially those in charge of establishing what's good for all.
This is also the progressive (socialist) belief system of the modern Democratic Party, which has completely adopted the progressive notions of people like Karl Marx and Vladimir Lenin. If you listen to Democrats speak today, you will hear all of the principles of defeatism, anti-capitalism collectivism and socialism; none of the American principles that made this nation the most prosperous nation on earth, for every citizen.
Yet the American people seem to know little about Marx or Lenin, American or world history, much less the direct political linkage between excessive federalism, progressivism and socialism, or the common political platform and agenda they share today.
The American people only know that anyone who works hard and wants to retain the rightful fruits of their own labor is "greedy", and that all those who seek to attack the "self-sufficient" (aka the rich) for benefit of all others, are compassionate, progressive, generous, democratic and patriotic. They know this because Democrats, international socialists and their many minions in the press tell them so daily. That's why they are sheeple!
They also know that the cost of decent health care in America is out of control and on the rise. They don't know why or what to do about it, so they are open to suggestion. Now that Democratic Socialists control both houses of congress, what better time to seize control of the health industry, for the greater communal good of course?
And since we have been taught to look to our federal government when in need, what else would one expect us to do?
America already teeters on the edge of bankruptcy. Progressives will tell you it's because of the high cost of fighting terrorism (defending America) around the world or tax cuts (reductions) for those who actually pay taxes in this country. But a close look at federal spending over the last 60 years and current spending habits tells quite another story and unlike politicians, the numbers don't lie.
Excessive federal social spending is bankrupting this nation and it has been for decades. The federal budget has only been balanced once since the government entered the business of social engineering some 60 years ago. Every year we spend more and go in debt deeper and deeper. All budget areas outside of social spending are restricted in favor of an endless growing stream of social programs. And now, they seek federal control of the second largest private industry in America, health care. They'd like to control #1 also, but that will take a bit longer.
Meanwhile, many other nations around the globe are about to beat us to the bankruptcy court as a direct result of their "Universal Health Care" systems. But few Americans are aware, so we can pretend that it isn't so.
Is there any chance the American sheeple will figure this all out before the '08 election, in which every Democrat candidate is promising socialized medicine? Not a chance! Is there any chance that the Democrat controlled congress will get on board with Bush in his effort to offset health care costs with tax breaks? No chance whatsoever!
Hillary once put it to you straight in San Francisco when she said, "We're going to take things away from you, for the common good!"
Remember, to be self-sufficient is to be "greedy". To be communally concerned enough to tyrannize the self-sufficient, is to be "progressive" and "patriotic".
Who wouldn't want to be progressive and patriotic?
