"Every Life is Sacred"

WASHINGTON, D.C. – President Donald Trump’s message today at the annual National Prayer Breakfast echoed his strong pro-life message from Tuesday night’s State of the Union address. This morning, President Trump said, “We must build a culture that cherishes the dignity and sanctity of innocent human life. All children, born and unborn, are made in the holy image of God. Every life is sacred! A precious gift of the Lord!”

President Trump is the 12th president to speak at the annual breakfast, which has been attended by every president since Dwight D. Eisenhower. “I will never let you down. Never,” said Trump. The pledge came after he called on Congress to defend the dignity and life of America’s unborn children and pass legislation to prohibit late-term abortion during his State of the Union address. Since taking office, President Trump has followed through on his promise to protect life. He recently signed a letter to Congress making clear that he will veto any legislation that weakens protections of life. Trump has reinstated and expanded the Mexico City Policy, preventing foreign aid from being used to support abortion, and proposed legislation to ensure taxpayer dollars from the Title X family planning program are not awarded to abortion providers. “I continue to be encouraged that President Trump is a strong advocate for the sanctity of life, and this morning he continued that message,” said Mat Staver, Founder and Chairman of Liberty Counsel. “Each time he says, ‘all children-born and unborn—are made in the holy image of God,’ it further supports his leadership in protecting the precious lives of unborn babies in America,” said Staver.
