Race Horses vs Disabled Veterans

Race Horses vs Disabled VeteransFellow Veterans and Friends of Veterans President Trump recently signed an Executive Order to end Veteran suicide. It is estimated that on average each day across the USA, 20 U.S. Military Veterans (some reports estimate 22 a day) take their own lives. It is also estimated that nearly 70% are not engaged with the Department of Veteran Affairs (VA) for their healthcare.
More than likely, the reason that 70% are not patients at the VA is more than likely a personal choice since so many get very frustrated with the VA’s own notoriety of delaying and denying healthcare, which sadly established the VA’s infamous legend of “delay and deny until you die.” And maybe the 30% who are patients that purportedly commit suicide could well be from an “accidental” drug overdose from a multitude of medications prescribed by the VA. Veterans have long been used by the VA / UCLA Medical to “experiment” on with various drugs and healthcare treatment before trying them on the society-at-large. And when it comes to Veteran suicide, we need to consider the homeless Veterans, because the VA sure doesn’t. How many take their own lives on the street or are robbed and beaten to death – murdered, kidnapped? Who knows? Consider the VA’s own simplistic solution toward Veteran suicide:
Veterans who are in crisis or having thoughts of suicide, and those who know a Veteran in crisis, can call the Veterans Crisis Line for confidential support 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year. Call 800-273-8255 and press 1, send a text message to 838255 or chat online at VeteransCrisisLine.net/Chat.

This clearly underscores the VA’s serious lack of understanding as to what their responsibility is as a healthcare provider for Veterans who are despondent and suicidal. Suppose you are a homeless Veteran and thinking about taking your own life: You are homeless and hungry, you have no cell phone / iPhone, there are no pay phones (even if there were any, you’re broke), you have no computer, yet some well-paid VA employee is sitting in a safe and secure room at the VA waiting for your phone call to “chat” with you. As we know, Los Angeles remains to be our nation’s capital for homeless Veterans yet there is no easy-to-find, 24-hour-access emergency shelter and hospitality triage to welcome homeless Veterans onto these sacred grounds of this deeded National Veterans Home. Supposedly, there’s a Building 257 on the VA property somewhere that one cannot even find if you are driving a car with GPS or On-Star, etc., yet homeless Veterans who suffer greatly from war injuries and the trauma of living impoverished and helpless at skid row and back alley squalor are supposed to know exactly where to go at the Los Angeles VA to get help or what phone number to call, etc. Consider this LA Times Editorial that appeared in Friday’s March 8, 2019 issue:

Did 21 horses have to die?

The LA Times Board publicly expressed their primary concerns about why 21 horses have died or were euthanized since December 21, 2018 at Santa Anita Park in Arcadia.

Isn’t it curious how the LA Times refused to publish President Trump’s Executive Order to help reduce Veteran suicide that involves an estimated 20 Veterans every day, but they take a very serious stand on why 21 race horses that lived in state-of-the-art facilities had to die over nearly a 90-day period? In the Time’s editorial, these media elite proclaim:
The state should consider a rule that would shut down a track when there is a steady accumulation of fatalities over a short period. However, the immediate concern should be keeping horses off of Santa Anita until experts can figure out why so many horses were so gravely injured.
Again, these are state-of-the-art facilities that provide the utmost of care and shelter for race horses belonging to super-wealthy owners, yet the LA Times does not consider it newsworthy that dozens of disabled and destitute U.S. Military Veterans live in squalor on the sidewalk directly “outside” the largest VA in the nation that gives a mega-million-dollar property to non-Veteran entities “inside” the VA – RENT FREE. All of this is taking place just a few blocks away from the mega-million-dollar mansion estate of the wealthiest man in Los Angeles – mega-billionaire / medical doctor Dr. Soon-Shiong, the owner of the Los Angeles Times. So, why isn’t the LA Times calling for realistic and humanitarian action and demand the Los Angeles VA be immediately shut down and send our Veterans to local hospitals to be treated with the same quality and professional care that the rest of society gets? Please read the following op-ed written nearly five years ago -- before the scandalous and counterfeit “settlement agreement” of January 28, 2015 that promised to end Veteran homelessness in Los Angeles by the end of 2015 and beyond.

We Have Found the Enemy … and it is the Department of Veterans Affairs

Nothing has changed, except matters have gotten worse since the counterfeit settlement agreement that defrauded disabled Veterans out of their rightful “Home” while the wealthy elite – Brentwood School’s state-of-the-art Sports Complex, UCLA Baseball Stadium, City of LA’s public dog park, Brentwood Village Shopping Center parking lot, Breitburn Energy’s massive oil well drilling, etc. The Los Angeles VA has failed shamefully at upholding its promise to end Veteran homelessness while granting “open borders” to a multitude of illegal occupants that have forced more and more Veterans to be homeless with many sleeping directly outside the VA. How many of these homeless Veterans have died from inhumane conditions and lack of proper healthcare because the VA has placed the “wants” of the wealthy non-Veteran elite above the “needs” of impoverished and homeless Veterans? One thing the VA is very proficient at is a VA police force that issues falsified arrest citations that declare the American Flag is nothing more than a “placard.”

These disgraceful arrests take place “outside” the VA and are issued against elderly U.S. Military Veterans and Fellow-Patriots who are standing up and speaking out on behalf of the voiceless homeless Veterans who pledged their lives to defend our Nation’s Colors. Let’s be very clear: The crime, corruption, collusion, cronyism, etc., at the Los Angeles VA must cease, posthaste. It’s time for the Los Angeles Times and the VA to stop horsing around and start taking responsibility to care for our war-injured and impoverished homeless Veterans and to honor our American Flag. Memo to Secretary Wilkie: Please show some respect to the President of the United States who entrusted you with this honorable position to come to Los Angeles and clean house. And restore the President’s love of country and the American Flag at the Los Angeles VA. Moreover, spend a few minutes with those of us who are on the front-line defending our Homeless Veterans and the National Veterans Home and work with us to dramatically reduce Veteran homelessness as well as Veteran suicide. Today is the 11th Anniversary (572 consecutive Sunday) of the Veterans Revolution to “Save Our Veterans Land” and “Bring Our Homeless Veterans HOME” God Bless America and the Veterans Revolution!
