"An I.C.E. deportation warrant is not the same as a search warrant. If that is the only document I.C.E. brings to a home raid, agents do not have the legal right to enter a home. If I.C.E. agents don't have a warrant signed by a judge, a person may refuse to open the door and let them in. An administrative order of removal from I.C.E. or immigration authorities is simply not enough. Families belong together. Everyone in our country has rights. Many of these families are mixed-status families. We hope the president -- we pray that the president will think about this."Pelosi's concern for prolonging the stay of illegal entrants than showing compassion for grieving American citizens is puzzling. Not the way to win votes in 2020. Presidential candidates Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass) and Julian Castro, who endorse the decriminalization of illegal immigration, could face increasing pressure to justify this policy during the upcoming Democratic Party Presidential Debates. Rep. Seth Moulton (D-Mass) has declared what should really be Democratic Party policy:

"If you cross the border illegally, that's illegal. I want people to come to America legally. I want a system that encourages legal immigration because that's who we are, a nation of immigrants."Surely Democrats should be concerned that the existing bipartisan policy agenda of allowing the legal admission of 1 million people a year can be contemptuously avoided by hundreds of thousands of illegal entrants coming into America through the southern border with Mexico or illegally overstaying expired visas. The unwillingness of the Democrats to pursue reforming serious loopholes in the immigration laws that enable illegal entry into America has been nothing short of scandalous. The law is clearly defective and needs to be amended. It is being exploited in a manner that was never intended. An urgent overhaul is needed. Until it is amended however the existing laws must be respected and enforced. But the law is not a one way instrument when it comes to illegal entrants--who use its provisions to stay in America. It also has to be obeyed when those same laws are used to legally remove those who have entered illegally. Sanctuary cities that undermine the rule of law must also be rejected as a tool to prevent the law being enforced. Trump is set to make mincemeat of the Democrats for embracing illegal immigration in 2020.
