Tlaib and Omar leading Democrats into the electoral wilderness

Tlaib and Omar leading Democrats into the electoral wildernessRashida Tlaib and Ilhan Omar are spiralling out of control in a Jew-hating orbit that threatens to help send the Democratic Party into the electoral wilderness after the 2020 elections. The failure of the Democratic Party leadership to take action against Tlaib and Rashid is inexplicable--especially after H Res 246 was passed on July 23rd by the overwhelming vote of 398 -17.
209 of those 398 House members voting in favour of H Res 246 were Democrats, whilst another 16 Democrats--including Tlaib and Omar-- were among the 17 who voted against. Those 16 dissenting Democrats were not prepared to embrace the principles enunciated in the Resolution which declared:
Whereas the Global Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions Movement (BDS Movement) targeting Israel is a campaign that does not favor a two-state solution and that seeks to exclude the State of Israel and the Israeli people from the economic, cultural, and academic life of the rest of the world; Whereas the Global Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions Movement is one of several recent political movements that undermines the possibility for a negotiated solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict by demanding concessions of one party alone and encouraging the Palestinians to reject negotiations in favor of international pressure; Whereas the founder of the Global BDS Movement, Omar Barghouti, has denied the right of the Jewish people in their homeland, saying, "We oppose a Jewish state in any part of Palestine. No Palestinian, rational Palestinian, not a sell-out Palestinian, will ever accept a Jewish state in Palestine.";

Whereas the Global BDS Movement targets not only the Israeli government but also Israeli academic, cultural, and civil society institutions, as well as individual Israeli citizens of all political persuasions, religions, and ethnicities, and in some cases even Jews of other nationalities who support Israel; Whereas the Global BDS Movement does not recognize, and many of its supporters explicitly deny, the right of the Jewish people to national self-determination; Whereas university-based Global BDS efforts violate the core goals of the university and global cultural development, which thrive on free and open exchange and debate, and in some cases, leads to the intimidation and harassment of Jewish students and others who support Israel; Whereas the Global BDS Movement promotes principles of collective guilt, mass punishment, and group isolation, which are destructive of prospects for progress towards peace and a two-state solution;

209 Democrats recognized the BDS Movement as constituting the epicentre for the espousal of Jew-hatred whilst 16 supported its heinous objectives. Democrat leaders in the House--Speaker Nancy Pelosi, Majority Leader Steny Hoyer, Majority Whip James Clyburn, Assistant Speaker Ben Ray Luján, Caucus Chairman Hakeem Jeffries and Caucus Vice Chairwoman Katherine Clark--should have required their 16 dissenting colleagues to at least have gone missing-in-action by simply registering their presence--as did 4 other Democrats--or just not turning up-- as did another 5 Democrats. An offensive cartoon--shared by Tlaib and Omar on Instagram--has now been called out by House Judiciary Committee Chairman and influential Democrat--Jerry Nadler for "its vile underlying message". Article 1, Section 5, Clause 2 of the U.S. Constitution states that:
"Each House may determine the Rules of its Proceedings, punish its Members for disorderly Behaviour, and, with the Concurrence of two thirds, expel a Member."
The House clearly has a two-thirds majority to expel Tlaib, Omar and the other 15 members who voted against H Res 246. That power should now be exercised without fear or favour. Tlaib and Omar will still remain free to peddle their Jew-hatred--but not as esteemed members of the House of Representatives.
