The Pride Row should stay the Shame Row for L.A´s authorities for as long as our Veterans´ lives and potential are being ruined by local corruption and cronyism

Outside VA: Miracle in L.A

Outside VA: Miracle in L.ARight outside the gates of West Los Angeles VA a miracle has happened! A row of 14x10 tents appeared on the very sidewalk where our Veterans were “welcomed home” by cold asphalt and “tucked in” by indifference. Paraphrasing Bonita´s CA, SCI FI author Charles Diffin (“Two Thousand Miles Below”): Half real they seemed, and half imagined- in coronavirus haze. Why “a miracle?” Well, shameful treatment of Veterans should belong to science-fiction, but in L.A. it´s just hard to face reality.
While Los Angeles Times (April 14, G. Holland) came up with very adequate headlines“ L.A.is getting a government –run tent city. All it took was 40 years and a pandemic”, the tents on the Pride Row were set up neither by city authorities, nor by the VA. Traditionally, Old Veterans Guard had to step in. Quite literally forced “to do something” by the outbreak of COVID-19 and by order of U.S. District Judge David Carter, the derelict defendants: L.A City and County had to cough up 50 toilets and sanitation stations in the Skid Row area. Now, as regards the POW camp-like “temporary shelter” VA had no choice but to offer, the tents are incredibly shabby .Will $243 billion budget ever be enough or is VA “buying art” again? Only Robert Rosebrock and Old Veterans Guard understand that the tents adorned by Old Glory and military flags are as important as Soldier´s Creed: I am an American Soldier…I am a warrior and a member of a team…I will never leave a fallen comrade…” Meanwhile VA seems preoccupied mainly by “Veterans ´mental health”, reinforcing negative libel: big on PTSD, shy about what VA´s betrayal does to a patriotic soldier .As for the local authorities who regularly “misplace” millions of dollars destined to fight homelessness of Veterans (and mooch some more), an encyclopedia of corruption and cronyism could be- and should be written by investigators. Even if the 388-acre property in West L.A/Brentwood was deeded in 1888 by John P. Jones and Arcadia B.de Baker “to be used exclusively by homeless and disabled Veterans”, the Sanctuary´s land has been for years occupied by unlawful “tenants”; local elite would simply split the pot between them, in a blatant “breach of fiduciary duty.” While trotting to the trough L.A´s “gentility” trampled many homeless and disabled Veterans to death, promising help-when pigs fly.

In “Who Has Profited From The Homeless Crisis Financially and Politically?” California Globe´s Michelle Mears gives an example of a “joint-venture” between the likes of Councilman Mike Bonin, PATH developer Thomas Safran, Peter Lynn(LAHSA) and Co:” They are all profiting or have profited from the so-called homeless crisis. There is also a connection among this crew of self-proclaimed homeless advocates of receiving six-figure salaries stemming from ballot initiatives to public donations, campaign contributions, and sweetheart deals.” The smug, derelict elites who don´t believe in the Pattonesque unconquerable soul of American Veterans should have a good look at Robert Rosebrock and Old Veterans Guard. Instead of “Brother can you spare a dime?” you´ll get a military order to give back every dime you´ve ever stolen from our homeless heroes. It´s President Trump´s turn to use his “pen and a phone” to make sure the Pride Row is a permanent fixture after the pandemic and that new tents boasting Old Glory and military flags are added. The Pride Row should stay the Shame Row for L.A´s authorities for as long as our Veterans´ lives and potential are being ruined by local corruption and cronyism.
