When Biden talks about unifying America, but then see him sign 27 Executive Orders on his first three days in office that will kill thousands of American jobs, tank our economy, harm our great country, I know he is lying about his true intentions

Truth, Justice, and the American Way

Truth, Justice, and the American WayAn astonishing number of people these days do not believe it is wrong to tell a lie or hide certain aspects of the truth. When did such blatant lying become socially acceptable? When I was growing up in the 1950s in Fargo, North Dakota, I was taught by my parents, my teachers, and my pastor that telling a lie was wrong. Telling a lie was not just wrong from a moral or religious perspective, but it was wrong in the sense that it damaged my character. In other words, if I told a lie and was caught, I would no longer be viewed as trustworthy in another person’s eyes. Today we would say a person who regularly lies has no integrity. When I speak of people who lie, I am not talking about people who are what mental health professionals call “pathological liars” because these individuals have underlying psychological issues driving their need to lie. The people I’m talking about are individuals who have no moral compass or conscience that causes them to care about the difference between telling the truth and telling a lie.

Why are so many people nowadays, including elected officials and television personalities, lying with impunity?

What keeps most people from lying is fear – fear they will lose their job, lose an important relationship, or be otherwise punished. However, this type of fear is only a motivator to tell the truth for people who understand they will (or could) be held accountable, if they don’t tell the truth. I believe the level of personal accountability in American society has diminished significantly in the last 20 years, and this has become a major problem on many levels. Not only does it appear that more people are lying today, but it also appears more people are cheating or being dishonest in their actions. The number of parents who have recently been criminally charged because they bribed college officials and others to change their child’s grade records or ACT and SAT scores is simply staggering. Interestingly, these parents are also Hollywood celebrities or other persons of financial means, and I’m pretty sure they thought they would never be caught or held accountable for their actions. The obvious question to ask at this point is why are so many people nowadays, including elected officials and television personalities, lying with impunity? I believe it is because we Americans have lost our way morally and spiritually. Even a cursory look at America’s early history shows that belief in God and adherence to The Ten Commandments played a large role in the formation of American values. In the last 50-60 years, church attendance has dropped steadily, and the number of Americans who call themselves Christians has also declined. Between 1937 and 1976, U.S. church membership was 70% or higher. However, according to a recent Gallup poll, church attendance among American adults has dropped to 50% in 2020. Not only has church attendance fallen, but fewer Americans express a religious preference. In the 1970s, the traditional teaching of values disappeared from American education

When people stop worshipping God and start worshipping money, fame, sex, or drugs, that little voice inside us that normally moderates what we say and do becomes harder to hear. This is especially true for individuals who are addicted to alcohol or drugs because whatever they are addicted to becomes the most important thing in their lives. For the addicted, telling the truth becomes unimportant. Getting the next drink or fix is all that matters, and it no longer matters if they have to lie to achieve that goal. The same holds true for those addicted to fame or money. At some point, the need to have other people’s attention and adoration or the need to have more money and power causes people to not just lie to others, but to also lie to themselves. In the 1970s, the traditional teaching of values disappeared from American education. About this same time, college philosophy courses dealing with ethics and personal values were promoting something called “situation ethics.” Gone was any notion of right and wrong. Values were taught to be “situational.” In other words, our values needed to be looked at “in context.” With no more absolute moral standards, young adults of the era could enjoy all sorts of activities that heretofore polite society would have frowned on like “free love” and use of recreational drugs. Along with this, came pop psychologists, who encouraged people to do whatever it was that made them feel good. In the last 50 years, Americans have become even more self-focused and telling the truth has become far less of a moral imperative than it was three or four generations ago. Not only do more individuals lie these days, but so do major corporations. In the last five years, even journalists and newscasters can’t be counted on to tell the truth (i.e., provide the true facts of a situation). Ever since Donald Trump came down the escalator in Trump Tower on June 16, 2015, to announce he was running for President of the United States, the news media seems to have lost its collective mind as well as its ability to tell the truth. Even once considered fair and impartial journalists have started to put their own spin on the news and don’t report the facts accurately.

An egregious example of not reporting accurately occurred repeatedly during the riots in Minneapolis, Seattle, Portland

An egregious example of not reporting accurately occurred repeatedly during the riots in Minneapolis, Seattle, Portland, and other major cities (all governed by Democrats) in 2020 when television reporters stood in the street with buildings burning in the background and “protesters” throwing frozen water bottles and bricks at law enforcement. More than one reporter had the audacity to call these riots “mostly peaceful protests.” How stupid does the media think their viewers are? Most Americans are smart enough to understand what they are seeing broadcast on the news channels. We don’t need Facebook or pompous television anchors to interpret what we saw and heard. There is a big difference between saying something in error and outright lying. There has been much speculation about whether or not so many Germans would have supported Hitler, if they had known the truth about what he was planning. Joseph Goebbels, the Nazi Minister of Propaganda, was a master at lying. Because citizens want to believe what they are being told by government officials, Goebbels got away with his blatant and constant lies until the truth began to leak out about the death camps.

The Truth (with a capital T) has a way of coming out even when the lie is perpetrated by the cleverest of minds

The Truth (with a capital T) has a way of coming out even when the lie is perpetrated by the cleverest of minds. The lie may not be exposed today or tomorrow, but it will ultimately come out. It took six or seven years for Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s lies about what happened at Benghazi to finally be exposed, and it took four years for the many lies about the Trump dossier and false allegations of Russian collusion to be exposed. At some point, hopefully sooner rather than later, the real truth about the 2020 U.S. election fraud will become fully known as well. My fellow Americans, for eight years you were repeatedly lied to by members of the Obama Administration, and now you are being lied to by the Biden Administration after less than a week in office. When I hear President Biden talk about “unifying America,” but then see him sign 27 Executive Orders on his first three days in office that will kill thousands of American jobs, tank our economy, and harm our great country, I know he is lying about his true intentions. Please do your own research to learn the truth about the Biden Administration’s real agenda. And definitely pay attention to your own internal “truth detector.” If something doesn’t look, sound, or feel right to you, it very likely isn’t. God gave us intuition and a thinking brain for a reason. Call me old-fashioned, but I still believe in Truth, Justice, and the American Way. But where, oh where, are Superman (aka Clark Kent) and ace reporter Lois Lane when we really need them?
