They’re Getting Desperate! Let’s Keep Up the Pressure!

They’re Getting Desperate! Let’s Keep Up the Pressure!Saturday was both a great day and a very sad day. That’s the way things are unfolding, and very quickly, in Canada right now. The great part happened early in the day, when I was honoured to drive a tractor at the head of a Freedom Convoy that made its way from Tillsonburg to Norwich, Ontario, and was followed by a Freedom Rally. The line of vehicles stretched back behind me farther than anyone could see, and by the time we got to the site of the rally, thousands had gathered. The convoy was so long, when we reached Norwich, there were still 40 cars that hadn't started the journey 37 km away! A 37 km convoy is pretty cool! To see a glimpse of it, click here.

With each passing day, it gets harder to understand why governments of every level and political persuasion in Canada are doubling down on repressive restrictions that are destroying both lives and livelihoods

It was so great to see so many freedom-loving Canadians coming out against the irrational lockdowns, against the erosion of our freedoms, and for the future of Canada! With each passing day, it gets harder to understand why governments of every level and political persuasion in Canada are doubling down on repressive restrictions that are destroying both lives and livelihoods. To see a better way, we need only look south of the border. Even states that were previously in hard lockdowns are embracing the truth that you can find ways to live with the virus and let low-risk people get on with living their lives, as we humans have been doing for thousands of years. American authorities are making decisions based on data and evidence, instead of becoming obsessed with things like limiting “mobility”, and as a result they are moving on while we continue to clamp down. And sadly, on Saturday, we saw Alberta Health (AHS) clamp down in an egregiously harsh way on Pastor Artur Powlowski of Calgary. The Pastor and his brother were pulled over and arrested on a busy highway after the conclusion of a church service. The AHS and the police could have arrested the men at home, or at the church, but they chose to make it a dramatic highway takedown, as if these Christians were armed and dangerous fugitives.

Is this a message of intimidation to the rest of us?

Is this a message of intimidation to the rest of us? Don’t exercise your Charter-guaranteed rights of peaceful assembly and worship or we’ll subject you to public humiliation? Pastor Powlowski is the second Christian leader arrested in the last three months in Alberta for having the audacity to lead his flock in worship. Something is very wrong with Canada, and Pastor Powlowski could tell you more about it than almost anyone. He grew up under totalitarian oppression in Communist Poland, where Christians were persecuted by the state. Now he is experiencing the same thing here. When Calgary police tried to disrupt Powlowski’s Easter service earlier this year, he railed at them, calling them “Gestapo” and “fascists”. Looking at what they did to him on Saturday, how could anyone disagree with his judgement? There may be a glimmer of hope for us, however, in what happened just after the highway arrest.

Calgary Mayor Naheed Nenshi: “thinly veiled white nationalist, supremacist” gatherings

Calgary Mayor Naheed Nenshi told a Global News interviewer that freedom protests of all kinds are nothing but “thinly veiled white nationalist, supremacist” gatherings. Federal NDP M.P. Charlie Angus followed with an incredibly bad-take of a tweet. To see it, click here. And federal NDP Leader Jagmeet Singh chimed in on Monday, offering that "(t)o brazenly not follow public-health guidelines puts people at risk and that is something that we've seen with extreme right-wing ideology,” The NDP have categorically failed to stand up for blue-collar workers and small business owners during this lockdown. Their obsession with climate alarmism will put the nail in the coffin of Canadian manufacturing if we let it happen. I believe that these ridiculous, divisive, cynical statements made by three denizens of the political elite are a cause for optimism. They show that the lockdown narrative is falling apart. When they can’t support the agenda of restrictions with data or logic, and when they know that every day, the American experience is proving that our lockdown policy is cruel insanity, they can’t do anything except call us racists for asking questions.

Their house of cards is falling apart

The only strategy left for them is to slanderously label any dissent as “extremism”, and then to try to outlaw it. Their house of cards is falling apart. The “white nationalist” slanderous lie holds no water. They’d know that if they ever bothered to come to a freedom rally and talk to people there. The compliant mainstream media who dutifully reports the accusations of “extremism” would know it too, if they ever covered events like the Tillsonburg-Norwich rally I addressed on Saturday. I’m meeting people of all races, of all ethnicities, and even of all political stripes at these rallies. They’re concerned for their families, their futures, and for their freedoms, and they have every right to be. First, a dramatic highway arrest of a pastor for holding church services. Then calling anyone who questions government policy after a year of lockdowns a Nazi.

The truth is emerging. We’re getting bigger, and they’re getting desperate. Let’s keep up the pressure. Just like Vitamin D, the Charter of Rights and Freedoms is not fake news, and it’s not a right-wing conspiracy theory. It’s for all of us! Exercising our liberties and speaking up now is the most important thing we can do. I will keep on fighting to lift the lockdowns, and I’ll fight to my last breath for Canadian freedom! Please join me. Fighting to save Canada won’t be easy, but it will be worth it when we win! God Bless You and God Bless Canada. Sincerely, Derek Sloan Member of Parliament DerekSloan.ca
