American Politicians Can’t Hide Private LivesMinnesota Democrat Rep. Ilhan Omar obviously thinks that being a “woman of color” grants her the privilege of keeping her “personal life” off the public radar screen—a status that doesn’t exist for American politicians, ‘women of color’ or not. Activist politicians of our day work with social media to create and control their own digital image. In the case of active “Squad” member, Ilhan Omar, the man with whom she is allegedly ‘romantically’ connected, was paid some $240,000—in less than one year—to create her phony digital image.
You could say that “some people did something” to throw Rep. Omar out of obscurity into the bright unforgiving light of public scandal. Scandal shone its unforgiving light on 2017 Senate candidate Roy Moore, the man Omar labels “an accused child molester”, now that the Alabama GOP is calling to have her expelled from the House of Representatives. Dragged into the scandal spotlight, possibly not of his own making, Moore lost his race to Democrat Doug Jones after more than half a dozen women came forward with decades-old sexual misconduct allegations against him, detailing inappropriate interactions that allegedly occurred when they were teenagers and he was in his 30s. “Moore has denied the allegations and recently announced plans to run for Senate again.” (Washington Post, Aug. 28, 2019)
State Rep. Tommy Hanes (R), who proposed the Omar resolution, told The Washington Post in a statement Wednesday that. “There is precedence for Article 1, Section 5 of the constitution being invoked to expel members of Congress based on disloyalty to the United States.” “Rep. Omar is ungrateful to the United States and the opportunities that have been afforded to her,” Hanes said, later adding that the congresswoman’s race and religion were irrelevant to the party’s recent efforts. “Her rhetoric is despicable and unpatriotic.”

“To justify expelling Omar from Congress, Alabama Republicans noted the accusations of anti-Semitism she’s faced from both sides of the aisle for her views on Israel and the fierce criticism over a video of her saying “some people did something” when referring to the 9/11 attacks. In addition to claiming Omar “dismissed the 9/11 terrorist attacks waged by radical Islam on the World Trade Center,” the resolution argued she “has a disturbing record of using anti-Semitic language.” “It pointed, in part, to her widely attacked suggestion that Israel’s U.S. allies are motivated by money.”
The Washington Post downplayed the comment, saying that she has since apologized for it and claimed that her remarks on 9/11 were “a brief moment clipped from a much longer 20-minute address in March”. Rep Omar is currently in a state of denial about her alleged affair with her consultant/employee, Tim Mynett, a married Washington, D.C., consultant. “The accusations emerged earlier this week in a divorce filing from the man's estranged wife, just over a month after it was reported that Omar had separated from her husband and father of her three children, Ahmed Hirsi. When asked by WCCO if she was separated from her husband and if she was dating anyone, Omar gave a terse and firm reply and declined to entertain further questions about her "personal life.” (Fox News, Aug. 28. 2019)

“No, I am not,” Omar said Tuesday. “As I said yesterday, I have no interest in really allowing the conversation about my personal life to continue and so I have no desire to discuss it.” “A court filing from Beth Mynett, 55, alleged that the freshman congresswoman was involved with her husband Tim Mynett, 38, and that their separation in April 2019 was brought on by his confession. “The parties physically separated on or about April 7, 2019, when Defendant told Plaintiff that he was romantically involved with and in love with another woman, Ilhan Omar, who serves as a U.S. representative from Minnesota,” read the court filing, obtained by Fox News. “The Mynetts lived together for six years before getting married in 2012, and they have a 13-year-old son, according to the court filing obtained by Fox News.

“Tim Mynett has previously worked for Omar’s congressional campaign, and his company received approximately $230,000 for fundraising consulting, digital communications, Internet advertising and travel expenses since 2018, records showed. The 37-year-old congresswoman was spotted back in March with Mynett at a California restaurant.
“Rep. Ilhan Omar violated campaign finance law by using campaign funds to pursue an affair with married Democratic consultant Tim Mynett, according to a complaint filed with the Federal Election Commission (FEC) Wednesday. (Daily Caller, Aug. 28, 2018)
Omar’s campaign has disbursed $223,000 to Tim Mynett’s company, E. Street Group, LLC, from August 2018 through June 2019, mostly for fundraising consulting, FEC records show. But on April 1, her campaign began making payments to E. Street Group for “travel expenses.”
“Defendant’s more recent travel and long work hours now appear to be more related to his affair with Representative Omar than with his actual work commitments,” the court filing read. (Fox News) “Omar’s personal life has made headlines in the past. Earlier this year, it was reported that her tax returns in 2014 and 2015 were filed jointly with Hirsi, even though she was still legally married to someone else at the time. “Omar engaged in a civil marriage with Ahmed Nur Said Elmi in 2009, and the couple apparently separated in 2011 without formally petitioning for divorce until 2017.”

The Tim and Beth Mynetts' are not the first divorce filings opening the door on scandal. It is alleged that Barack Obama used the previously sealed divorce court filings of his opponent Jack Ryan in the 2004 Illinois senate race, which he ultimately won. Meanwhile, Ilhan Omar’s alleged affair with a married man in her employ is not strictly her personal business or guaranteed airtight protection under the claim of it being her “private life”. It is instead the business of every American.
