Chris Matthews, Luke Russert

America’s Dumbest Commentators

After the Boston Marathon bombings, it was inevitable that the pundit and public figure community would weigh in without bothering themselves to wait for any actual facts. Mediaite has taken on the task of collecting some of the best.
Naturally, MSNBC's Chris Matthews makes the list as he desperately tries to spin the terrorist attack into the work of a disgruntled Tea Partier ticked off about tax day. In order, Matthews blamed racism, some type of anti government force (I didn't know the Boston Marathon was a government entity), and the Republican Party. Chris is usually good for laughs, but this time, the subject matter is just too serious. From his lofty perch at NBC, Luke Russert tweeted a truly absurd statement about a "link between" the Boston bombing and Waco in 1993. Clearly, the wind was blowing the day that acorn fell from the family tree.

Never one to disappoint when it comes to profoundly stupid statements, Cynthia McKinney noted that "the pattern is becoming too, too familiar. So Boston cops were having a 'bomb squad drill' on the same day as . . ,' Huh? On Monday afternoon, NYT columnist, Nicholas Kristof tweeted out that the Boston attacks serve as a "reminder" that Senate Republicans have blocked the president's nomination of a new director of the Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco, Fireams and Explosives. Of course, the ATF hasn't had a permanent director since 2004. Obviously, had they had one yesterday, the bombing never would have happened, ergo, it's all Republicans fault. Kristoff later deleted the tweet. To their credit, not one of the stupid commentators blamed George W. Bush for the bombing, although that must be coming at some point. The president made a statement in which he promised to bring the perpetrators to justice. That would be the same promise he made about Benghazi. Joy Tiz ©2013
