Birthers, Truthers, Crazies

Dear Mr. Beck

Pick the target, freeze it, personalize it, polarize it. Don't try to attack abstract corporations or bureaucracies. Identify a responsible individual. Ignore attempts to shift or spread the blame. Rules For Radicals: Rule 11- Saul Alinsky - Last Friday, like most weekdays, I watched your show. You know, the one when you were talking about those people who have lost or sold their souls? The one when you drew that diagram of the "Birther and Truther Crazies", as you call them, and on either ends of the diagram, you ascribed the "crazy" value at 5% within each of the ideologically polar groups.

Then you pointed out that huge gulf in the center, the remaining 90%, as being where we, the non-crazies, live. Yourself included. And me, too, I'd like to think. But I don't think you think that. I think you count me among your crazy 5%. And while I believe that insanity doesn't recognize itself, I'm weighing in the facts and I'm crunching the numbers, and I don't think I'm crazy. You know, I bet millions of people watched that show right along with me last Friday. Well, I wouldn't be a friend if I didn't tell you, you are wrong! Furthermore, you are dangerously wrong! You are wrong on perhaps three or more important levels which I'll discuss, if I can have your ear. I don't mind you being wrong every now and then, I mean, who isn't, right? But when that wrong might be interpreted as "intentional", we got problems, bro. This is largely due to the fact that people in high places liberally handing out disinformation feces samples to the population at large is a big part of what our fight is all about. Is it not? Do I have your attention, here? Alright, because I like you, ok? And I want you to do good. So here's what I got: I suspect somebody turned your wheel and you are being driven down this "Crazy Birther" ranting road. So allow me to prognosticate a little here: For one, I think O'Reilly has some significant influence on you and the whole Fox family up there in The Big Apple. And we all know that O'Reilly was the first at Fox to go on the record calling "Birthers" crazy. It wasn't you. He's got great ratings, doesn't he? But you have recently put the pedal to the metal and you are kicking up a lot of dust along Birther Boulevard, Glenn. Therefore, you either think there is something very important about convincing your viewers that this "Birther" thing is a bad thing, or someone else has convinced you that if you do not take this position, it will be a very bad thing for you. That's what I'm thinking. Otherwise, you have failed to make your point why it's so important to cast Birthers (a somewhat amorphous term) as crazies. And I'm thinking that the incident with your former co-worker, Lou Dobbs, at your former Network, CNN, has probably colored your thinking about this issue, too. They did Lou bad, didn't they? I mean, he said that he "Did Not Believe" that Obama was born outside the country, he just mentioned the fact that others do. Then all of a sudden, POOF!!!...and Lou was gone. Let's take a peek back when Lou Dobbs went on the record to talk about his CNN boss telling him " The birther story is dead!" Remember that? That's what I'm talkin' about. And I'm not alone in my thinking here, Glenn. Not by a long stretch. I'm going to show you. Glenn, I hope you don't mind me calling you Glenn, because I feel like I know you and I think of you as a friend. You're in my house and I watch your show almost every day. But I want you to know I don't live in either of the 5% places you described. If I was forced to put a label on me, like with a gun or the threat of the loss of my job or property or something, I'd choose to call myself a "Doubter", which is essentially what I hear you preach, and why I watch your show almost every day. If you would please, I want you to hang on to that word, Glenn. "Doubter." Specifically, I want you to know, I doubt the veracity of one Barack Hussein Obama. And daggonit, so do you! You tell us all the time. And I further doubt the veracity of government and politicians, in general, and so didour Founders! You tell us that, too. And it is true. I read The 5000 Year Leap. Yet, you believe, or want us to believe, that Barack "The Progressive" HusseinObama is somehow being truthful about this birth and eligibility business - that he has nothing to hide regarding his constitutional eligibility to serve as POTUS? Right? I mean, if "Birthers" are "Crazies", you naturally infer that Obama is a Truth-teller on this issue. Are you feeling me, here? So your recent rants, and I mean RANTS, over "Birther-Crazies" seems oddly inconsistent, don't you think? Let's get the record straight on me: I do not necessarily believe that Barack Obama was born anywhere other than Hawaii, like he says, even if he was confused about which hospital. Kind of like Lou Dobbs, your former co-worker. But I have my doubts due to his refusal to simply produce a valid birth certificate and end this contentious controversy that the whole world is talking about, mostly off the record. And this is a matter that apparently deeply hurts Barack's own feelings when people question his faith and, yes, even his citizenship, when for the mere cost of a couple postage stamps, he could cure it. Don't you find that curious? You can check that out right here in this video clip at the National Prayer Breakfast where Barack Obama asks, "Why Question My Faith and Citizenship?" Ridicule is man’s most potent weapon. It’s hard to counterattack ridicule, and it infuriates the opposition, which then reacts to your advantage. Rules For Radicals: Rule 5 - Saul Alinsky - Now, let's toss into the mix the fact that forensic investigators have proclaimed the Certificate of Live Birth that he posted on his campaign website a fake , and consider, Glenn, even sane people like you and me might begin to become a little suspicious. Yet you say that makes people who doubt or speculate, or who might even take the huge leap to conclude he might not have been born where he says he was born, crazy? This hurts my feelings coming from you, Glenn. And it insults a much larger number than that phantom 5% you came up with on your chalkboard. You ridiculed us "Doubters" and you are calling us that Progressive-made term, "Birthers." Please tell us all how you arrived at the 5% figure, because I'm feeling ridiculed here and that is a hard thing to counterattack, especially coming from a friend. I'm gonna prove my point: Does 5% appear too small? In June, 2009, Wenzel conducted a new scientific survey of a cross section of Americans with the question of Obama's Constitutional eligibility and found

... that despite near media blackout on coverage, 49.3% 'troubled, (not crazy) think he should release birth certificate. Glenn, Obama hasn't done that yet. But you trust him on his claim that he is a natural-born citizen and qualifies to serve as POTUS, according to Article II of the US Constitution. Well I'm here to tell you that I think anyone who is not suspicious of that claim, in the face of an abundance of facts and evidence that suggest otherwise, is more likely the nut case. Trusting Obama at his word is one heck of a leap from all of your other claims regarding Obama's and the progressives' intentions to "Fundamentally transform The United States of America" through the "fundamental flaw and enormous blind spot" by the Founders in their creation of the US Constitution. So you hammer into the minds of your audience that Obama and his band of Merry Progressives are out to Fundamentally Change America (which can only be done through the changing of the Constitution or in defiant and illegal violation of it), and that they hold the Constitution and the founding principles in contempt, but you believe him on this birth certificate issue, even while he refuses to prove it and has spent upward of a million bucks in legal fees preventing anyone to get near it. Right? I mean that is exactly what you are saying, or am I wrong, Glenn? Because WE, need to know who YOU are. Are you on the side of Truth, or are you on the side of Media Manipulation? As the Wenzel poll reveals, we're not stupid, and we're not 5%, sir. Indeed AOL, a left-center, mainstream, enterprise, polled this question: "Do you think it's fair to question President Obama's citizenship?" At 6 AM, on 12/6/09, the results were: 67% "Yes" -- 33% "No". Mr. Beck, are you not yet convinced that "Birthers" are neither "Crazy", and nor are they a "Fringe"? Let us continue, sir:

  • YouPolls.com has taken down their December 4th poll that asks the question, "Is Obama's birth certificate a valid question." Obviously, they didn't like the respondents' answers -- 83% "Yes" -- 17% "No."
  • An October 23rd item reported that three-in-ten Americans think their current head of state was not born in the United States, according to a poll by Angus Reid Strategies.
  • Goddard's Political Wire points to a new Public Policy Polling survey in Arkansas showing that only 45% of voters in the state say they believe Obama was born in this country, while 31% say they think he was not and 24% are unsure.
  • "Arkansas is the first of four states where we've polled the birther issue (Virginia, North Carolina, and Colorado were the others) and found less than half of respondents confident that Obama is a natural born citizen. The numbers are particularly dramatic among Republicans with 49% saying Obama was not born here to just 23% who grant that he was."
Glenn, these numbers do not a fringe make. And the problem is, we suspect you might already know that. And if you don't, I'm here to help. It is clear to see that the numbers I have shown state that a very significant portion of our population (probably lots of Glenn Beck viewers among them) believe something is rotten in Denmark...or Hawaii...or D.C....or somewhere, with this Barack Obama citizenship thing. We just don't know! And therefore, We Doubt. And then you Birth us for doubting! Glenn, it must be a real mother birthing all these people. I wouldn't even want to birth 5% of them, myself. I'm trying to help you here, ok? Let's just hope we're wrong about your possibly having foreknowledge of the facts, and that somehow you and your staff just didn't stumble across the evidence I'm now freely providing. And you know, Google is becoming a widely used tool for a whole lot of people these days, and so you might want to mention that to Roger and Rupert next time you see them around on the campus.
