Deconstructing Harry Reid

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, along with House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and the first alleged-American President Barack Obama have had a busy year. Together they have set a number of records:

 1. The greatest percentage of lies told in a campaign,
 2. The greatest number of lies ignored by the media in a campaign,
 3. The greatest growth of the Federal Government,
 4. The greatest growth in the Federal Deficit,
 5. The greatest growth in the national debt, and
 6. The greatest reduction in popularity.
In fact, it may not be going too far to suggest that this Washington DC Axis of Evil has achieved negative popularity numbers rivaling that of President Grant in the South following the Civil War. In Nevada, Reid’s numbers are below 40% and falling . Most politicians would be somewhat concerned with this information but not Teflon Harry. His history shows a pattern of ignoring the voters, hostility to business and indifference to education. In order to be worthy of his support, you have to either be willing to contribute massive amounts of cash, a fan of the socialist agenda, or an enemy of the ideal of American Sovereignty. During the last campaign, Harry Reid was heard on air scoffing at the notion of using the National Guard to guard our southern border. When illegals and their supporters marched, many of them carrying the Mexican flag above an upside-down Old Glory, Reid was remarkably silent. About the only time Harry Reid agreed with George Bush was when Bush attempted to push through legislation intended to reduce border security when concerned with Mexican freight. Now we have another campaign building up to speed and Reid is depending upon the illegal vote to push him over the top. There has been no overt statement of that, of course, but anyone with the capacity to read character (this excludes liberals, obviously), can see where the Senate Majority is placing his bet. His recent letter to the editor to Nevada’s largest paper is an example: This paragraph, “Regardless of this newspaper's opinion or agenda, nobody who thinks seriously about this issue believes it is fiscally or physically possible to deport the estimated 12 million people in this country who are undocumented. One recent report estimated that doing so would cost a staggering $200 billion, or more than the combined budgets for the Departments of Homeland Security, Treasury, Justice, Energy, Education, Commerce, and Agriculture. Mass deportation is unrealistic.” I love the line, “who thinks seriously about this issue”. Right there you can see the liberal technique of marginalizing a contrary opinion even before discussion starts. Well,, Harry, I tend to believe that you are incapable of thinking seriously beyond your own check book. It is not only fiscally and physically possible to deport the estimated 12 million illegals, it is morally imperative that we do so. Fiscally, the staggering $200 Billion is roughly a quarter of what we spend each year overseas in unnecessary military campaigns. On that, by the way, where is your strident opposition to that issue now that the sitting President is a drinking buddy? If we pulled all of our resources from overseas arenas not absolutely necessary to our nation defense and stopped the flow of unrecorded payments to warlords and dictators, we would not only have more than enough money to begin the deportations but more than enough trained manpower to carry them out. So don’t even try to tell me we can’t do it. All we need is the political will to inconvenience a few very powerful individuals temporarily. This next one is priceless, “I believe immigrants here without legal status must be required to register with the government, learn English, pay their taxes, pass criminal background checks and pay fines and penalties for being here unlawfully -- or face deportation. Far from getting on an "expedited path to citizenship," they must go to the back of the line, behind those who have waited lawfully for years to join family or begin a new job in the United States.” First off, Harry, how are you going to pay for this if you balk at the cost of deportation, especially since you include that option in your laundry list? Who is going to pay for the personnel to round up the illegals for registration? How about the English teachers? They can’t work for free. Who is going to process the tax forms? Our police departments are already undermanned and overworked. Where is the money going to come from to pay for that needed exponential increase in manpower? And lastly, where is this imaginary line? Back when the first amnesty program was announced less than 10% of the estimated illegals came forward. This paragraph almost sent me out of my chair: “Reform must also include strong and effective enforcement of our northern and southern borders; tough sanctions against employers who hire undocumented immigrants; and more understandable channels for legal immigration where necessary. Right now we have a system where our back door is broken and our front door is shuttered. We need to keep out criminals and those who will not contribute meaningfully to our society, and welcome the best and the brightest and those who will work hard to help our economy to grow.” Harry, Harry, Harry, are you forgetting your medication again? All we have to do is pull up a few of your Senate speeches or check out your voting record where border security is concerned to see that you are not a fan of “strong and effective enforcement”. Have you forgotten Border Patrol agents Ignacio Ramos and Jose Compean? When they were arrested and charged for being effective in doing their job, you said and did nothing as they were railroaded into an unjust prison term. Also, every time a southern border wall is mentioned, you become absolutely apoplectic. Actions are supposed to follow words, but perhaps not in Washington. When Oklahoma and Arizona passed and implemented “tough sanctions against employers who hire undocumented immigrants”, you were one of the many Democrats calling their actions racist. When E-Verify came up for renewal, http://www.rightsidenews.com/200903053879/editorial/senator-reid-objects-to-debating-the-reauthorization-of-e-verify.html you said out of the right side of your mouth that you “strongly support” the legislation, but out of the left side you blocked its 5-year renewal. I guess you’re really counting on those La Raza votes, eh? Folks, Harry Reid is expecting to have it both ways simply because the voters have trained him into that frame of mind. Over the past 30 plus years he has campaigned with promises given but never meant to be kept. When he was a minority player in a state with little to lose because his politics didn’t touch the economy, this corruption could be and was ignored, but no longer. He now wields far too much power for his agenda and lack of conscience to be set aside. When cancer is discovered within a body, every means necessary is undertaken to remove it before that body sickens and dies. We now have a cancer within the body of our country and we also currently have the means to effectively combat it. The cancer is called by many names, progressive, liberalism, globalism and if they are honest, socialism. The means to remove that cancer is called the vote. All medicines have a shelf life. I suggest we use ours before its sell by date.
