Conflation destroys context and is the most flexible, varied, and powerful of all Fake News tactics

Finding Fake News Deceit: How Conflation Corrupts Understanding

Conflation, the linking of two separate but related ideas, generates thought “dots” that when connected can only ever lead to misunderstanding. At times, in fact, the concepts are so disparate they are mutually exclusive, and accepting their conflation means one’s understanding will not only be wrong, but the resulting beliefs will have no tether to reality itself. A Fake News consuming society is a deluded society and a deluded society is ripe for the political pickings. (Step back, stay home, and mask up!) Acting on delusional beliefs, those that reject reality, will “unintentionally” produce consequences that oppose intent. In other words, not only will that society fail to make things better, they are guaranteed to make matters worse. This is the desired Fake News goal because the worsening conditions can then be presented as conclusive “evidence” that the problem needs more “solution”, leading society into a perpetual cycle of policy failure and totalitarian political success. Tyranny grows and, because Liberty and Tyranny share a fixed size pie, freedom necessarily shrinks.

Conflation Is Ubiquitous

Conflation, you will soon see, is it is a deliberate act of intellectual betrayal. If it were simply a mistake, an author with integrity, one imbued with a sense of honesty and decency, would retract, apologize, and repair the fraudulent, misleading message. Out with the Fake and in with the news. Awesome, except for those who profit off the delusional ignorance Fake News spreads far and wide. Conflation saturates our “news” sector and most times it goes unnoticed because society does not explicitly seek it out. However, the great thing about conflation is that whenever you identify it, you KNOW you’re looking at Fake News because conflation is a deliberate act meant to destroy context and understanding. The following examples are provided to show how conflation confuses but don’t represent a full list of conflated topics. In theory, conflation can be applied to any topic and that broad utility is what makes it a Fake News favourite. Fake News is full of it, so to speak, and if you don’t flush it when you find it, you risk your mind becoming full of it too. You’re ignorant understanding, while thought of as knowledge, will stink like a recently abused outhouse with no air flow.

Race And Religion.

Obviously, race does not equal religion, never has and never will. Let’s assume the raging civic argument concerns the influx of sharia compliant Muslims into one’s country. The point being made could be that sharia is a totalitarian political system incompatible with the western concepts of freedom and liberty. Fake News, however, will attribute opposition to sharia as strictly racist in an attempt to bully opponents into silence, or into arguing against claims of racism. Doing so protects the totalitarian nature of sharia from scrutiny and advances the cultural assault against our culture of freedom.

Race And Culture

Patrisse Cullors, a Black Lives Matter co-founders, admits that she and her fellow organizers are trained Marxists. The media has been very successful with pushing BLM’s conflation of race and culture. People and corporations who pledge money to BLM do so thinking they are supporting their black neighbours are in reality supporting a communist organization that despises their corporate and personal freedoms.

Colour And Culture

If every white person woke up black and every black person woke up white, what colour is privilege? Did you just curse to yourself? If “privilege” remains white after the colour swap, then why would blacks want to change positions? If “privilege” turns black, then privilege must be related to something other than colour. The conflation of colour and culture means the accusation of “White Privilege” is really an assault on culture, and once again freedom finds itself in conflation’s confusing crosshairs. One simple question and less than 10 seconds to prove the phrase “White Privilege” is another repugnant Fake News assault on cultures of freedom. One that impacts people of all colours.

Legal and Illegal

This conflation is often used in both immigration and gun control debates where legal citizens and illegal or criminal people are viewed identically. As illegals and criminals are already lawbreakers then any laws pertaining to immigration and gun control can only apply to the legal and law abiding so those conflated laws, while ostensibly formed to target illegals and criminals, only impact the lawful. If the lawful abide in a culture of freedom, then once again, conflation is a tyrannical assault on a free culture.

Appropriation and Appreciation

“Cultural Appropriation” is one of the vilest allegations Fake News can hurl. On one hand they advocate for open borders and the importation of millions with different cultural values then they throw the “appropriation” charge at people who show appreciation or acceptance of new, compatible (with freedom) cultural values. The consequence is that the host culture (ours) is forced to reject new people and all their cultural practices, creating a dangerous divide by preventing the newcomers from assimilating into our (different, free) culture. By conflating appropriation and appreciation not only does Fake News attack the bonds of civil society, they ensure newcomers remain unappreciated and unaccepted. How bigoted is that?

There’s Much More

Safe Spaces (delusion and reality), COVID-19 (projections and actuals, spread rate vs death rate), Black Lives Matter (race and Marxism), Carbon taxes (Carbon and CO2), Climate Denier (climate and “man made” climate) and, a big one designed to protect failing public policy from scrutiny (intent and consequences). No news topic is safe from conflation style tactics, as the varied list above shows, and they work masterfully because they’re never called out. Here is a Fake News speed reading tip. Any instance of conflation automatically identifies that statement as Fake News and taints the validity of the rest of the article. Articles predicated on a conflation are completely Fake News, so you swallow that kool-aid at freedom’s peril. Here is a freedom tip. Dump deceitful Fake News from your intellectual diet! Without exception, the INCORRECT political response to conflated Fake News results in a transfer of wealth and/or freedom from citizens to the ruling class. Conflation is never a mistake; it is a deliberate assault on cultures of freedom, making it one of Tyranny’s most impressive tools. Conflation’s success would be inspiring if it weren’t inherently evil. Do the math. If Fake News is Tyranny and Tyranny is Evil, Fake News is _____?
