Here in the United States, a firestorm of controversy is swirling around the release of 5 top level terrorists in exchange for one anti-American deserter.

Meanwhile, Obama is roaming around Europe, Carney and Rice are spinning two different stories, and the administration is trying desperately trying to maintain the fallacy that it didn’t negotiate with terrorists to broker their illegal deal. Instead, as Susan Rice claims, the White House maintains that it has dealt only with Qatar - the nation to which the 5 Taliban masterminds were sent.

So, how were these killers received when they landed on friendly soil? According to ABC News, they arrived free of shackles, free of custody, and received a hero’s welcome.

According to the administration, it wasn’t supposed to be like this. The former Gitmo inmates were supposed to be contained, and they were to face at least a year’s worth of something approaching house arrest.

From Reuters:

U.S. officials have referred to the release of the Islamist militants as a transfer and said they would be subject to certain restrictions in Qatar. One of the officials said that would include a minimum one-year ban on them traveling outside of Qatar as well as monitoring of their activities.

Unfortunately, that’s not happening.  The released prisoners are free to move around Qatar without restriction.

Qatar has moved five Afghan Taliban prisoners freed in exchange for a U.S. soldier to a residential compound and will let them move freely in the country, a senior Gulf official said on Tuesday, a step likely to be scrutinized by Washington.

Judging by the clip above, they’re going to have a heck of a good time. In fact, if they ever get back to Afghanistan, they might have even more fun. According to The Daily Mail, the Taliban is throwing a nationwide party to celebrate its glorious victory over the United States.

Goats have been slaughtered and served up across Afghanistan as the Taliban celebrates the release of five Guantanamo Bay detainees as part of a prisoner exchange.

A senior member of the Afghan Taliban has described the exchange of the five detainees for U.S. Army Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl as a ‘historic moment for us’.

Why is this such a big win for them?  Well….

The Taliban commander told NBC News the exchange was the first time its ‘enemy’ had ‘officially recognized our status.’

He said: ‘Once we confirmed the arrival of our five heroes back in Qatar, celebrations started everywhere in Afghanistan and the neighboring Pakistan.’

He went on to say: ‘Goats are being slaughtered and served with guests and in some places goats are being cooked in rice.’

Isn’t that great?  Rice! By dealing with terrorists, the United States has legitimized the Taliban, recognized them as a legitimate political force, and given them a major victory over the current administration. In one fell swoop, President Obama has managed to elevate and embolden an enemy that we’ve spent thousands of lives trying to defeat.
