Hygiene, handwashing, politicians, Don Cherry

Hand washing and the Islamic Medical Association

Just when you think you've heard it all, it seems that in the jolly old land of England, a rapidly increasing degree of Muslim women health care workers are rebelling against hygiene practices set forth by the British Medical Association.

It seems that these health care givers would rather risk the passing of serious infections to patients than to risk being deemed immodest by having to wash and disinfect themselves below the elbow. They have the support of several of the leading Muslim organizations including the Islamic Medical Association, that are whole-heartedly supporting this position by their care and health providers. The IMAs Grand Pooh Bah Dr. Majid Katme claims that it may be safer for patients if the arms are unwashed, unsterilized but covered up. What a bunch of primitive crap! This whole position by the Muslim community in England sets back medical treatment 500 years and if I needed to be treated for illness in England, I would absolutely refuse to be cared for by someone who refuses to follow the basic rules of medical hygiene. If it comes down to the nitty gritty on this issue. I would hope the English medical authorities  bypass the political correctness that runs rampant in our society and fire the entire lot of them if they refuse to comply. • • • Had a great chat the other day with someone I truly look up to in life, long-time Mississauga Mayor, the one and only Hazel McCallion. She is, without a doubt, not only one of the greatest and smartest politicians that has ever run for office anywhere, but is truly one of the most genuine people you could ever meet. I have met a lot of politicians in my life and after a chat with most I have to repeatedly check my hands to see if my fingers are still attached to them. Next to Hazel and Toronto Councilman Doug Holyday and a minority of others, I haven't met very many that are worthy or deserving of our vote. • • • I know that it would never happen in our day and age, but I feel that the members of our judicial system should be held personally liable if a criminal awaiting trail for a serious violent crime is let out of jail to await such trial and is caught committing another violent offense during that period. How many suspects in the murder of Jane Creba or Ephraim Brown were already up on serious charges or had been picked up in the past several months for additional weapons charges or violent crimes? Put the judges on display that did the releasing and have them explain to the victims’ families why the suspects who took their children's lives are allowed to live in virtual freedom.  Ditto to the lame brains we call politicians for allowing such a disgusting law as the Young Offenders Act to stay on the books. Make these officials responsible for such crimes on society and see how quickly they will drop their ultra liberal rhetoric.  • • • Can someone just explain to me, why in HELL is Don Cherry is not a member of the prestigious Order of Canada? This man has done more for the selling of the sport of hockey than just about anyone; was one heck of a coach in the NHL and has raised enough money for worthy charities to put a major dent in our national debt. Love or hate his views, no one can deny that this Canadian icon is beloved by the people that matter to him the most, the hardworking average Canadian , who may truth-be-told in my book are worth a heap more than just  average in my books. From coast to coast of this great land to the countries of the Middle East and Afghanistan where our courageous soldiers stand in harms way, Cherry is beloved and revered and for that alone he belongs in the company of all the worthy  Canadians who the Order of Canada represents. • • • What a piece of work Toronto School board Trustee Christine Nunziata is. It seems that the esteemed member of the Toronto Catholic District School Board is at it again, in the middle of another spending controversy that is definitely getting its share of headlines locally. It seems that our little princess has been chastised by the school board for running up such charges as Dominican getaways, liquor, food and lingerie charges on her school board credit card and account. With her family strongly behind her, the Nunziata's claim that their persecuted niece will be vindicated shortly on all allegations. UH HUH! Am I the only one that is sick and tired of such lame attempts of spin doctoring on any mistake and controversy made by politicians and all public figures? The problem is that no one seems to be made accountable for their actions anymore. With all the poor children going to school hungry these days it is absolutely appalling that such idiots as Miss Nunziata if found guilty of fiscal wrongdoing would be allowed to return to her position on the Toronto Catholic School Board. The children of Toronto certainly deserve better.
