Dr. George Jackowski has in his lifetime become one of the most heralded research scientists in the world today. Dr. Jackowski is the holder of over 160 medical patents for his work, and has quietly affected the health and well-being of much of society today.
Dr. George Jackowski has in his lifetime become one of the most heralded research scientists in the world today. Dr. Jackowski is the holder of over 160 medical patents for his work, and has quietly affected the health and well-being of much of society today. The award-winning Toronto-born and based doctor, was awarded last year the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Medal, presented to him personally by Prime Minister Stephen Harper is, constantly working on the cutting edge of medical discoveries. His 1994 discovery of the Troponan Card Test which measures the enzyme readings in a patient after a possible heart attack, has been hailed as the saviour of tens of thousands of lives worldwide. Along with his work in the medical field, Dr. Jackowski has become a prominent animal rights activist, who has saved and sheltered the lives of thousands of abused and wild animals. He has proven himself by his works to be a man of not only knowledge, curiosity but of true heart who cares greatly for the quality of life in all. Its shocking that Dr. Jackowski, who has saved so many lives, has recently become the victim of thieves. While away in Poland in late October, as an official delegate of the Governor General of Canada, Dr. Jackowski was made aware of the vandalism and theft of his beloved parents memorial monument at Park Lawn Cemetery in west end Toronto. The valuable memorial, worth over several hundred thousand dollars was destroyed for the valuable metals which were sold to backyard foundries and remelted.

Its a crime that is rapidly on the rise according to police sources and to make the situation that much sadder is that the cemetery owners will not take responsibility for any of it! According to cemetery by-laws, they will take reasonable security precautions to protect their property. You would think that extra security measures as a night time security service and cameras should be in order.

My prayers go out to hockey legend Gordie Howe, who is in critical condition in Texas, where he suffered a serious stroke several weeks ago at his daughter’s home. The 86-year-old icon’s condition has worsened in the past week, with doctors and family being extremely concerned. I have met ‘Mr. Hockey’ several times and found him to be one of the most friendly and approachable Superstars—A better man just doesn't exist. Get better, Gordie! We need you!

I am so proud of Prime Minister Stephen Harper, on his stand against President Putin of Russia on his country’s disgraceful actions in the Ukraine. Putin has acted like a cold-blooded dictator-tyrant over the years and his actions have placed his country’s financial growth in dire jeopardy. The Soviet Union collapsed over 25 years ago, and so shall this empty shell facsimile that Putin has ruled. As for Prime Minister Harper, when his political career in Canada ends, the perfect position for this right-thinking, politically-incorrect man of principle would be as Secretary-General of the United Nations. Harper would give the position both dignity and teeth, that is sorely lacking.

Speaking of Canadian-Ukrainian relations… I am so impressed with the great work of Etobicoke Member of Parliament, Ted Opitz. Traveling several times to the region, his work has been vital to the Ukrainian mindset and economics. His work has received worldwide praise as well as anger from Russian officials, especially President Putin, who has banned the hard-working MP from entering Russia. Mr. Opitz, wears that decree from the Russian President like a badge of honour! You're the best!
