Banishing Hillary Clinton, Getting Barack Obama

Have Conservatives Unwittingly Created a Black Camelot?

--Satire -- Call it Murphy's Law, or the Law of Unintended Consequences, or just call it plain bad luck.

However it is branded, the inconvenient truth is that in the process of vanquishing Hillary Rodham Clinton, conservatives may have unwittingly created a far more formidable foe in the personage of Barack Obama. For nigh unto six years now, nearly every conservative communication in America has vilified Hillary by portraying her as the devil incarnate. The message, "Hillary Sucks!" has been proliferated on the Internet, in FAX and text messages, in magazines, newsletters, on television and radio shows, in post-it notes, on dust-laden hoods and trunks of cars in need of washing, in flyers inserted in Gideon bibles in southern motels and hotels, in banners dragged across the sky by small airplanes, and in every telephone call made from and between right-wingers. From the right side of the universe, HRC has been seen as a consolidation of evil derived from the spirits of Marie Antoinette, Atilla the Hun, Darth Vader, Benedict Arnold, Osama bin Laden, and the progressive income tax, all rolled into one hysterical, hateful ball of socialist-feminism. To add flavor to the campaign, the right has even accused Hillary of sporting an "on demand" southern accent and tears. Mind you, ending Hillary Rodham Clinton's fairy tale pursuit of the White House has been a noble and patriotic undertaking. Conservatives were acting with only the purest of intentions and their hearts were in the right place as they labored feverishly to save America from what was perceived as the greatest danger to our democracy, civilized society, and humankind in general. Of course, conservatives did not count on the rock star qualities of Barack Obama. Unlike Hillary, Obama is charismatic, sympathetic, and likable. That makes him a much greater threat than Hillary, whose disapproval ratings hover right around 50 percent, and who has all the charm of a twelve-foot rattlesnake that has been interrupted while engaged in procreation. So while conservative rhetoric worked wonders in taming the Hidlabeast, who and what will keep Barack Obama in the U.S. Senate, rather than as primary occupant of a famous White House in a mostly black neighborhood in Washington, D.C.?
