“Jesus is the reason for the Season”

Jesus is the reason for the Season…right?

Often we hear the well-intentioned rhyme “Jesus is the reason for the Season”. However, their lack of understanding the significance of that statement is oftentimes demonstrated by their mad dash to join the extreme commercialization of the Christmas Season.

But, what is meant by “Jesus is the reason for the Season”. Simply put, we are to intentionally celebrate the most important day of our lives. The day Eternity stepped into Time. Jesus, using terms of Deity, said of Himself “I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End” (Rev. 22:13). Jesus’ arrival is a historical fact confirmed most importantly by the Bible, but also acknowledged by Christian and non-Christian philosophers and historians. We celebrate the historical fact of God, taking on human form, laying aside His glory, and stepping into Time so that we may have eternal life (salvation). For without the shedding of innocent blood, there is no forgiveness of sins. So, start a new tradition this year – be intentional in celebrating the birth of our Savior, Jesus Christ.
