“Yes We Can” becomes “No We Can’t” After Election

image“No We Can’t” would seem to be a more realistic chant for the ongoing campaign that continues after Barack Obama was elected President.
Chief among his campaign promises and the brightest star in the sky was a pledge to “lower healthcare costs and ensure affordable, high-quality healthcare for all”.

New City Hall - A Terrible Waste of Money

imageOscar Goodman’s Taj Mahal city hall proposal is idiotic. Our present city hall was expanded less than ten years ago, and the LV Metro Police plan to vacate tens of thousands of square feet of space in the existing building in the near future. Also, it has not been mentioned by Goodman or his minions on his staff or the city council what will become of the present city hall? I believe it will become a ghost town if abandoned by the city government. A minimum expenditure of $267 million tax dollars in these trying times so Oscar Goodman’s name can be on a cornerstone for perpetuity is ridiculous. Vote NO on a new city hall. - SM

Las Vegas plans to build a 303,000-square-foot city hall at First Street and Clark Avenue. The project would require that $267 million be raised through public bonds.

The Camouflaged Treachery In Obama’s Inaugural Speech

How easy it is for a grand orator to let words flow melodically from his or her mouth.  How easy it is to say one thing for the benefit of a particular audience, but believe another.  How easy it is to say what the people want to hear, so as to camouflage the hidden evil that lurks in the orator’s mind.

Coalition idea still scary

The thought of a Liberal lead coalition government with the NDP, supported by the Bloc scares the daylights out of most Canadians and polls show six in ten oppose the idea. Those who support the coalition love to point out that the Conservatives only got 38% of the popular vote. Are they suggesting that when the Liberals formed government in 2004 with 38% support they were an illegitimate government?

It’s The Jews, Stupid

For many decades after World War II, Eastern Europe was completely Judenrein, a Nazi term meaning free of – actually rid of – Jews. Small wonder, given that the region’s concentration camps and crematoria – Chelmno, Belzec, Treblinka, Sobibor, Auschwitz-Birkenau, Dachau, Majdanek, Sachsenhausen, Buchenwald, Flossenburg, Mauthausen, Ravensbruck, et al.– had incinerated millions of Jews in the Nazi’s reign of terror. But even in the utter absence of Jews, anti-Semitism flourished!

Obama as God’s Instrument

I first endeavored to write this essay in order to validate for myself what I believed - from an inescapably finite vantage point - to be a most salient principle behind God’s unsearchable providence. The principle I speak of is embodied in the Almighty’s own caveat that he aims to exalt those who humble themselves, and humble those who exalt themselves.

What have we done to ourselves, - And why?

Many Americans have been convinced for some time that Obama is a closet Islamic.  After reading the headlines in the January 22, 2009 Fox News First 100 days of the Presidency “Obama is expected to sign ‘several’ executive orders Thursday, directing the CIA to close secret foreign prisons and Guantanamo Bay, and limiting detention and interrogation methods” he has given more credence to these convictions.  He is apparently making it softer and easier for Islamic/Muslims to damage the United States.

The Rise of 21st Century Anti-Semitism

America has just thrown one of the world’s biggest parties, rejoicing with good reason at the fall of the racial barrier to the White House. But bigotry ebbs and flows on many fronts, and a question for President Obama as he takes up his responsibilities as leader of the free world is whether he will now champion—or at least strive to protect—another minority whose members are today the targets of resurgent prejudice.

Promises Made, Promises to Fear

Promises are the currency of politics and politicians have been making them from the time that people banded together in tribes for a common purpose. The purpose of the politician, however, is always the same; to gain power and to stay in power.
