It’s Not An Oil Pipeline, it’s Fuel

The Daily Mail’s Tuesday night TV story about the Colonial pipeline system with cars lined up for gasoline in the USA gets it wrong from the get-go. The commentator calls Colonial an oil pipeline. That’s wrong. The Colonial pipeline carries different fuels from Texas, to Lindon, New Jersey. Actually it is far more than one pipe. It’s different pipes carrying diesel fuel, jet fuel, gasoline, home heating oil, propane, etc, all side by side. It does not carry crude oil.

Canada Lost $17.13 Billion Over 3 Years Because Trudeau Blocked Canada East Pipe

The original plan for the Canada East pipeline to reach Quebec and New Brunswick from western Canada, was to carry 1.3 million barrels per day of oil. Based on the Wednesday price for the Canadian grade of WCS, Western Canada Select grade oil of $45.33 U.S., that 1.3 million barrels per day means 20 percent federal royalty to the government of Canada. Over half of Canada's oil produced is of the lower priced WCS grade.

CARBON TAX FOR EACH FUEL

The Canadian federal carbon tax on methanol is going to be 2.2 cents per liter on April 1st.

• It's 3.1 cents on 105 octane propane also known as LPG or Liquid Petroleum Gas.
• It's 4.42 cents per liter on gasoline.
• It's 5.16 cents per liter on kerosene, which is also basically diesel fuel and jet fuel except for different additives.

DOUG FORD CUTS NUMBER OF TORONTO CITY COUNCIL SEATS

The new Ontario Premier Doug Ford will use his power to reduce the number of seats on Toronto city council from 47 seats to 25 seats. Each Toronto city councillor gets paid $125,000 plus extra money for sitting on various boards. Office expenses run another $50,000 plus. There are at least two staff members for each city councillor. Some have more than two staff members.
