Of course: Susan Collins is just so upset House GOP ‘playing politics’ with ObamaCare

Not that I expect you to be surprised by it, but when you find yourself lamenting why there is so little fight in Beltway Republicans, you have to remember how many of them have become creatures of the Beltway precisely because that is how they survive politically. To Collins, the grumbling in the halls of power sound much like the sentiment she hears back home in Maine, and it will benefit her not at all to really fight for anything. Oppose ObamaCare with words, sure, but actually do something that might change things?

Shut. It. Down.

Any number of grandstanding D.C. types have now magnanimously declared that they will not accept those portions of their $174,000 salaries that might come during a possible government shutdown. The question is why they get paid the rest of the time.

Obama’s had about enough of you desperate, crazy Fox News-watchers

Serious question: Have we ever had a president so fixated on the animus he feels toward his critics? I'm sure you can find quotes from just about every president taking some shots at the opposition, but this guy just goes on and on about it. It's almost as if he's so narcissistic that he can't conceive of anyone really disagreeing with him unless there is some sort of dark, onerous, malevolent evil behind it. But he couldn't be that narcissistic, you don't think . . . Nah!

Turns out the IRS doesn’t bother to keep track of its ObamaCare spending

Certain fictional characters are part of the lore of the Calabrese family, and these include a couple of small-time thieves named Mugsy and Boss. Mugsy is the big, dumb type, and as the Boss is explaining the latest criminal escapade to be undertaken - a home burglary, a jewerly store theft, etc. - Mugsy always protests: "But that's against the law!"

Why think small? Liberal columnist wants to make Hillary president of the universe

My favorite gushing-over-Hillary pieces are the ones that rush headlong into the absurd. That is not to say any pro-Hillary piece fails to be absurd. A pro-Hillary piece is absurd by definition. But those in the liberal intelligensia have to constantly try to one-up each other in setting the standard for Hillary-adoring blather, and on first glance I thought Sally Kohn's piece in the Daily Beast would be hard to top.

McCain takes to Senate floor to scold Cruz for fighting ObamaCare

"Elections have consequences, and those elections were clear that a significant majority supported the president of the United States and renewed his stewardship of this country." Honestly, you watch this, and you just cringe with embarassment for the guy. I know he's done nothing good lately, but it's sad to see a man who really did heroically endure so much for his country looking and sounding this pathetic.

Question for those who say Ted Cruz can’t win: What has your strategy accomplished?

There were too many people who used the term to attribute it to just one, and I'm sure you heard it said at least once. The 2010 red wave election was a "restraining order" on Obama and the Democrats. After they used their massive majorities in 2009 and 2010 to run wild with federal spending and the passage of ObamaCare, the American people went to the polls to give Republicans power on Capitol Hill to stop them in their tracks.

White House demands gun grab White House admits would have made no difference

I seriously questioned whether they would get on this wheel again. It went nowhere after Sandy Hook, and it was so transparently opportunistic . . . you can only pull this crap so many times before the public starts to catch on, right? Shows what I know. Here we go again. Harry Reid, who put the ziggy on the Senate vote last time because he knew it was a sure loser, is once again making noises about scheduling something, while the media plies him with strategic advice disguised as questions. Video from CBS:

Worried about your health care privacy? Relax! Obama is setting up an 800 number . . .

So you're all worked up because you're now getting demands from the federal government that you "submit your information" to the ObamaCare exchange, which is all for your own good, you understand, because that way they can hook you up with just the right ObamaCare insurance, work out your federal subsidy . . . it's lovely. You should be champing at the bit to give them that information.

CBO: In case you’ve forgotten, entitlements are going to explode the deficit

Any time I mention the Congressional Budget Office, it's important to say this: Their "nonpartisan" projections are basically wild guesses, and to the extent they reflect the scoring of a spending bill proposed by Congress, they are always garbage-in-garbage-out projections based on numbers they are given by politicians. So I have argued many times that you can't cite a CBO report and act like it's gospel truth, and I won't make that claim about this one either.

Screw ObamaCare: Why I’m leaning toward remaining uninsured (and many of you should do the same)

Yeah, I know you're not really that interested in our personal lives, but I thought it might be worth sharing a little something today. One of the complaints of Democrats is that ObamaCare opponents are irresponsibly encouraging people not to sign up for the ObamaCare exchanges, thus misleading folks into missing out on the wonderful benefits they can enjoy under the law.

ObamaCare wants to know: How many people are you having sex with at the moment?

Betsy McCaughey is one of the most astute followers of the ugly details of ObamaCare, and she's reporting in today's New York Post that the infamous individual mandate requires you to do more than just buy insurance. It also requires your doctor to ask you certain questions so the informtion can be stored in the digital database that will be available to insurance carriers. McCaughey has more:
