Mike Foil

Mike Foil, The Housetop Proclamations, describes himself this way: I am a native of Arizona and prefers the small town life and the company of family and friends to the hustle and bustle of the city. I love God, my wife, my family (four kids, all married with kids - ten grandkids). I love the USA - don't want it changed. I have the utmost respect for members of the military, current and past. My Dad is the best example I know of "The Greatest Generation". I was born conservative and have conservative blood running through my veins.

The BBA is Not the Answer

Brian Darling of The Heritage Foundation, wrote a report which they published on 7/14/2011; called, "The House and Senate Balanced Budget Amendments: Not All Balanced Budget Amendments Are Created Equal". He states that each house of Congress is planning on taking up discussion on their respective versions of a BBA during the week of 7/18/2011. The Senate appears to be leaning towards S.J. Res. 23. The House appears to be leaning towards H.J. Res. 1. With there being multiple versions of BBAs in each house, at least they each appear to be picking one to discuss. This step lets us be more specific, also.

A Republic, If…

As Benjamin Franklin emerged, after the completion of the writing of the Constitution; a woman asked of him, “Sir, what have you given us?” He responded, “A Republic, ma’am if you can keep it.”

The 20’ Tall Wall of Debt

This article is for the "numbers people" out there. I have written that our national debt would make a 20 foot tall wall, around the world at the equator, of dollar bills (laid end-to-end and stacked flat). As unbelievable as this sounds, I have decided to prove the numbers.

“A Solution”

This article is a response to a comment made following the recent CFP article "The Shaft" I appreciate your response to the article on CFP "The Shaft". If you read the other comments, both before and after you posted your response; you will see, as I am sure you are well aware, that your frustration is felt by many. As I was not sure whether your challenge was issued to me personally or in general, I accepted it as a personal challenge to offer some solutions. I thought about your question, "What can we do about it?"

The Shaft

One republican politician after another, when asked “Will you vote to raise the debt ceiling?” has the same answer, “I am against raising the debt ceiling, unless we get something major as a concession.”

Beware of the Balanced Budget Amendment

Currently, there are multiple Joint Resolutions in the House - 112th Congress, for a balanced budget amendment. There appears to be two which have the most support, H.J.Res.1 with 109 cosponsors and H.J.Res.2 with 178 cosponsors. They are basically the same but do have a few minor differences. HJR1 includes a Section about limiting spending to 20% of GDP (Gross Domestic Product - the sum of the production for the country in a given year) unless 2/3 vote for increase. #2 does not have this section. #1 requires 3/5 vote to increase taxes where #2 requires a majority. Other sections appear to be identical.

Does God Know Your Name?

Where do you stand in your walk with the Lord? Are you one of the people in line to hear, (Mat 25:23 KJV) "Well done, good and faithful servant; thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord." Or, do you feel like you might just be in the line that hears, (Mat 7:23 KJV) "I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity."

A Time to Live, A Time to Die

A time to live, a time to die. Can death be peaceful? I believe that it can. Is there a fear of death? Yes, there is.

Paul Revere – My Story

Introduction For some reason, Boston just seemed to attract controversy. It is not that we wanted to be the center of attention, knowing it would bring the wrath of the King upon the people and our little town. But, nonetheless, trouble continued to find us and the center of a revolution is where we found ourselves.

Fight for Liberty?

In the background on my computer screen is a World War II poster. It shows some contemporary soldiers marching in front of some colonial militiamen. The caption reads, "Americans Will Always Fight for Liberty". There are two words that stuck out to me. They are not "Americans" and "Liberty", but are "Will" and "Always". During WWII, there was no doubt that the saying on that poster was true.

Shoot the Lame Duck!

When a horse goes lame, we shoot it and put it out of its misery. Why? Because it is understood that a lame horse cannot be fixed and is no longer good for any practical purpose.

The “Bone Yard”

I like to go to my parents home to see how I might be able to help them around the house and yard. They live in a 50 year old home and have a fairly large yard to maintain. Typically, there are some chores that need to be done and something that may require minor repair. Behind the house is a small workshop where my dad works on his various projects.

Well, I Swear! But to Who?

“I do solemnly swear that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic..." On 9/11, of 2010, I wrote an article with the title, "Domestic Enemies of the Constitution", which was published on Canada Free Press. This article discussed the various oaths that our elected officials and military personnel swear upon entering their new positions.

VOTE - No Citizenship Required

In 2004, Arizona voters passed Proposition 200, the Arizona Voter Identification Laws. What we attempted to accomplish was to help insure that only legal citizens of the U.S. would be voting in our elections. The law required anyone who registered to vote to provide a valid Arizona driver's license, or an Identification Card, or other form of record with a digitized signature on file with AZ Motor Vehicle Department (MVD).

Short Term Pain

How do we get from where we are to where we want to be? Be assured, this election is not going to solve the problems. If we have any dreams of an America that are based on what America used to be, then we have to be realistic. We are so far from where we started that we would not recognize our country if it were functioning strictly under the Constitution.

The Lone Military Superpower - China

Through much of our adult lives we were told about the two, military Superpowers; the U.S.A. and the U.S.S.R. After the political and economical collapse of the U.S.S.R., we have heard that the U.S.A. is the "lone Superpower". An analysis of military strength might show America to be on the top of the pile, but do not get too arrogant. Based on the current trends, within the next few years, it appears that China will be the top dog.

Are We Free?

Recently, there has been much discussion over the concern of losing our liberties. I, too, have written about the importance of the coming election in relation to protecting our freedom. All of this is based on the assumption that we are, or at least have recently been, FREE. Is this a correct base for our arguments and protests?

Life Cycle of a Crisis

Have you noticed, over the past twenty years, how most every potential crisis that any portion of the American public has faced, has been gobbled up by Washington and the main stream media, with each doing their assigned duties in transforming what may or may not be a legitimate news story into a doomsday scenario with predictions of apocalyptic destruction?
