I’ve been away for 2 weeks. Nothing has changed except to become worse. At home, we are not so much a divided as we are an amputated nation. Two sides, roughly equal, cleaved and bleeding, wounded and screaming animals. Trump, although he may be a balm for that part of the country that can be salvaged, cannot mend us, as that would take an act of God.
