The eunuch

Paraphrasing Brendan Behan: Obama practicing diplomacy is like a eunuch in a harem; he knows how it’s done; he’s seen how it’s done, he’s seen it done by others, but he’s unable to do it himself.

I must admit the mystery concerning the loss of the Malaysian aircraft has managed to become the shiny object misdirects the world from events in Crimea. The media has again managed to direct attention from the reality Russia is engaged in the digestion of a region it needs to assure access to the rest of the planet. Gee! Who’d have ever thought this could have happened. The press has become the willing puppet of a Marxist regime and is looking past the obvious because to do so assure the sales of newspapers, radio and TV advertising as well as assuring restrictive totalitarian regimes advance their agendas. The main issue to be decided at one time, at least for me, was to determine which came first; the chicken or the egg? It seems the real answer is the omelet. After World War II the United Nations was created in order to prove Woodrow Wilson, while having a great idea in the development of the League of Nations and he proved it is possible to work yourself into a stroke and debilitating, morbid, self-destruction, it could prove itself to be as worthless as a wet blanket in a snowstorm. It looks like it’s keeping the snow and cold away but really it’s advancing you toward your death because it accomplishes less than it suggests it does.

I know this looks like it’s all over the place as I write it but there is logic to this effort of mine. The United Nations has sat by (because of the structure of that “august” (?) assemblage was decided, through its charter and constitution developed during post World War II-Cold War tensions) make damned sure ANY individual member of the original (and subsequent members like China ) could shut down sanctions and lessen the impact of global criticism of a misbehaving Security Council member. This prevented the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics (USSR) from being expelled and/or sanctioned for expansionist efforts in the past. It also assured Israel was protected by the United States through its use of veto power when Arab nations sought to first prevent and lately destroy Israel through America’s membership on the hallowed Security Council. Wilson’s League of Nations idea was basically: if nations are talking about their disputes, they have little time for shooting at each other. Unfortunately, people like Neville Chamberlain in 1938 and now Beaurat Obama spend so much time talking they refuse to admit they’re merely wussies acting more as apologists than statesmen. They pander, they ponder and ultimately somebody else pays the price of their inaction and timidity. It happened in Sudetenland, Poland and ultimately the rest of Europe before Japan got into the act. While everybody pandered, pondered and postured, the world fell into a global conflagration killing millions. Now, Vladimir Putin is playing the part of Adolph Hitler. He’s plotted and planned and executed his strategy of conquest. He developed it all while watching, smiling, shaking hands with and in general bamboozling Obama. Obama’s been threatening to enact sanctions against Russia. To date those sanctions have resulted in a denial of low-level Russian diplomats chance to travel to Disneyland. That ought to show ‘em! You can see them quaking in their boots: with laughter. Putin said he’d do the same and Dick Durbin as well as John McCain proclaimed it an honor to be added to the list. Like anybody really cares what those two fools think. Between them they haven’t had an original idea concerning international diplomacy since high school. To them it’s more important to act as the shiny object distracting the people by offering themselves up as staunch athletic supporters when they intellectually are bench riders hoping to be seen as leaders. It’s like being head eunuch guarding the harem. Looks good but acts as no real threat to anybody with nefarious intent. The missing Boeing 777 is a tragedy and a mystery. Everybody’s postulating and theorizing about what happened. It’s almost like a Hollywood thriller. Plane with all passengers on-board disappears; what happened? Where did they go? Was it a terrorist plot? Was it an alien abduction? Will there be a future attack using this plane as an airborne bomb a la 9/11? Who knows? But we do know Putin is annexing Crimea without a shot fired and all Obama, John Kerry and the United Nations can think to do about is issue press releases and hollow threats against a man who understands only force as a means to stop any incursion. And Obama is the eunuch in the United Nations harem. Thanks for listening
