Obama: Lets Unionize the TSA

It seems that among the many tribulations faced by our president was the matter of finding time away from the golf course to fill top positions in two federal agencies responsible for keeping terrorists off of airplanes.

As in all important national security matters, Obama dithered for months before nominating prospective heads of the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) and the Customs and Border Protection Agency. Our senate has been far too preoccupied with its abominable health crimes legislation to bother itself with national security; an issue liberals never take seriously. Eight months into his administration, Obama at last got around to nominating police detective Erroll Southers for the top position at TSA with the full support of the intractably incompetent Janet Napolitano. Southers is currently the LAPD’s chief of homeland security and a union sycophant: “Now the question of bargaining rights at TSA is not a matter of 'if' but 'when,' said John Gage, president of the American Federation of Government Employees, in a statement applauding the choice. "We are confident that the appointment of Mr. Southers as administrator will help put that matter to bed." Imagine airline security being run with the ultra smooth efficiency that ran American car companies into the ground. Obama, who is co-owned by the unions and George Soros, will gleefully politicize the TSA. Imagine fire proofed airport screeners with thoroughly nefarious union bosses directing our airline security. The reliably stalwart Senator Jim DeMint is being roundly castigated for “holding up” the nomination of Southers because, as everyone knows, conservatives care nothing about national security; and we really ought to trust the left’s stellar track record of effectiveness in dealing with terrorist threats: “Oh, OK. ‘Absolutely essential appointments are held up, one being the chief of the Transportation Security Administration blocked by ‘the very conservative Senator from South Carolina.’" “What Roberts and Acosta failed to report was that Barack Obama's selection for the post, Erroll Southers, was, according to the Library of Congress's Web site, nominated by Obama barely three months ago, on September 17. Moreover, the nomination wasn't reported out of the Democratic-controlled Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs until November 19. That isn't a great deal of time in a Senate where nominations can – and have – languished for years.” Liberals would have us believe that Jim DeMint is intentionally placing Americans in peril by obstinately refusing to rubber stamp this suddenly exigent confirmation. Never mind that it took Obama nearly eight months to get around to naming Southers in the first place. Predictably, lame duck union lackey and politburo chief, Harry Reid plans to dragoon a senate vote to confirm Southers. Senator DeMint speaks for all non-suicidal Americans: "'I'm only looking for some time to debate the issue and have a vote so this isn't done in secret,' DeMint said. He added that he hoped the debate and the alleged terrorism attempt 'will convince Reid and President Obama that we cannot give union bosses veto power over national security at our airports."'
