Our Miss Brooks:  Welcome to the Soros Pentagon

One of the many perks of being POTUS, or TOTUS, if you are a stickler for accuracy, is that you don’t need to go through the nettlesome process of applying for a security clearance. POTUS gets to decide by fiat what positions should require clearance, and we must accept his appointments as competent patriots, notwithstanding titanic amounts of evidence to the contrary. The president is also at liberty to install incontestably unqualified individuals to sensitive posts.

Absent these prerogatives, there is little likelihood that Rosa Brooks would hold a top position at the Pentagon as adviser to Under Secretary for Defense, Michelle Fluornoy. As a sample of the decorum we can expect from the former LA Times op ed columnist, Brooks described her appointment as her own “personal government bailout.” The former op ed writer reveals her abysmal lack of understanding of military strategy:
“ . . . Brooks depicted the troop surge (where President Bush sent more than 20,000 additional military personnel to Iraq) as a "feckless plan" that was "too little, too late" and had "no realistic likelihood" of leading to "an enduring solution in Iraq." Subsequent events would prove Brooks wrong; the surge turned the tide of the war dramatically in America’s favor.”
Anything the daughter of socialist author, Barbara Ehrenreich, lacks in job qualifications, she makes up for via her special kinship with unrepentant Nazi collaborator, George Soros. Brooks served as special counsel to Soros’ Open Society Institute. She also has been a consultant for Human Rights Watch and a board member for Amnesty International. During the Clinton administration, Brooks worked as a senior adviser to berserk transnationalist, Harold Koh, Obama’s pick for the top legal position at the State Department. Miss Brooks used her column at the LA Times chiefly to rant about former President Bush, referring to the administration as a “homegrown” authoritarian government, analogizing the Bush administration to the regimes in North Korea and Iran. She merited her place in the Obama administration by referring to Bush as “our torturer in chief”. A devout Soros toady, Brooks is far more sanguine in her assessment of al-Qaida: “In 2007 Brooks portrayed al-Qaida as an organization that, prior to 9/11, had been "little more than an obscure group of extremist thugs, well financed and intermittently lethal but relatively limited in their global and regional political pull." "On 9/11," she continued, "they [al-Qaida] got lucky.… Thanks to U.S. policies, al-Qaida has become the vast global threat the [Bush] administration imagined it to be in 2001." As is customary with Obama’s retinue, Brooks has expressed the de rigueur antipathy for Israel, insisting that Israel’s recent campaign to stop relentless attacks by Hamas was motivated by political, rather than security concerns. George Soros now has a mole in the Pentagon, and not in some grunt post; she is adviser to one of the most powerful people in the organization. Brooks-Soros is already shaping US policy in Afghanistan and crafting our al Qaeda strategy. The Telegraph UK recently ran a column expressing anxiety about Brooks. Score one for George Soros: even the Clinton years weren’t this good to him.
