Promises Made, Promises Broken

imageEvery political candidate, regardless of the race, regardless of the office, offers up promises of integrity, fidelity, transparency and accessibility. Those who manage to hang on to their promises are rare. Even more so, because when the political world discovers they actually took their oaths and promises seriously, their brethren join hands with the opposition to destroy them. Our representatives have worked overtime to not only develop a culture of corruption but to perfect it.

Here in Nevada we have a law on the books preventing anyone who isn’t an attorney in good standing, that individual cannot be a member of the bar. However, the woman currently in charge of the Nevada Bar has no standing in the state as an attorney, and in fact, doesn’t even hold a valid degree. I personally know of one situation where an attorney with high scores in the bar exam was not allowed to pass because he committed the unforgivable sin of pointing out a sitting judge’s obvious incompetence and malfeasance from the bench. Moving somewhat higher up the power scale, we find Harry Reid and his baby boy. Both are pure political animals. Harry has yet to explain why, when he only spent one year in private practice as an attorney, he happens to be one of the wealthiest sitting US Senators. Check out this link. At the most, Harry’s yearly salary reached $174,000. There were years when his salary was below six figures, so where did all the millions come from? Harry isn’t talking. As for baby Reid, Rory is nearly a carbon copy of daddy. His campaign site bio reads like it was written by someone who knows nothing about the electorate and put together snippets of information based on what they thought the voters might fall for. Not impressive. Does anyone really believe the young hormone-flooded Reid Junior actually was more turned on by a map of Nevada over a Farah Fawcett poster? Over in Washington the Democrat party is back to using the “culture of corruption” accusation against the GOP. The problem the mass media refuse to mention when they report on this is that this so-called culture is being overseen by the controlling Democrats. The last I heard, Charlie Rangel, the Caribbean-tripping Congressman was a Democrat from New York. Granted, the GOP is no bed of propriety, but this seems more like the hood blaming his henchmen. Moving up a bit higher in power, Obama promised, much like the Clintons, to oversee the most transparent, ethical administration in US history. Once elected, he began to break every promise made at a record setting pace. Rather than a balanced budget he gave us record deficits, banishing the Bush record into a far distant second place. As for fidelity, the liberal bloggers love to point out the infidelities of Republicans like John Ensign, Governors Sanford and Gibbons. What really adds to the fuel is the stupidity of remarks such as Gibbons where he claims not to have had martial relations with any woman since 1975. What, all those cocktail waitresses and hookers did not qualify as women? Fortunately for the GOP, the statistics for who cheats more, just as with the falsely-named global warming, do not favor the liberal side of the coin. This site proves that “if anything, Republicans are slightly less likely than both Democrats and independents to get divorced or mess around,” which is very understandable if you understand the differences in the political philosophies. The liberal and the libertarian mindset see nothing wrong with the human animal satisfying its every desire, regardless of the harm caused to relationships; just as long as certain laws are not broken. Those who disagree with this assertion are lying. Because of the greater belief in a judging God within the GOP ranks, it is more likely that a conservative politician will not cheat than a liberal. Unfortunately for we the people, that celestial understanding has not stopped the vast majority of Republican politicians going right along with the Democrats in becoming mired in the self aggrandizing belief that they are somehow better than the “little people” who put them into office. If anyone has had a letter not replied to, or a phone call not returned. If anyone has had their representative bend over backwards to serve a foreign business in preference to the needs of the constituency; if you have ever felt unrepresented at any time, you are probably having to put up with a representative who more likely qualifies for the descriptive term “spoiled brat” than politician. If that is the case, remember that feeling in November. Regardless of what the media says, we are far better off with a Congress full of greenhorns than we are now. Remember when Nancy Pelosi actually laughed out loud when asked if campaign promises mattered? Remember every time Harry Reid lied when he said the discussion on Healthcare Reform would be held in the open. Remember every job you’ve seen headed overseas and every house turned over to the banks. Remember when you fill your car with half your paycheck when the price should be 1/10th of what it is. It is time for the voters to send a clear, concise message. We hold the power of the vote and you are fired!
