This summer we invite you to explore the beautiful and rugged mountains of North Carolina’s Pisgah National Forest and the world-class whitewater of Georgia’s Chattooga River during our 8-day Blue Ridge Adventure.

Nomad Backcountry Adventures offers fabulous multi- adventure travel trips in the southern United States. From backpacking to whitewater rafting, hiking, and camping, participants experience pristine landscapes, adventurous terrain, close-knit community, scrumptious meals, and overall unique challenges of life “on the trail.”

Aimed especially towards middle and high school teenagers, Nomad also custom designs trips to fit the needs of any group- regardless of age or experience.

Beautiful surroundings, good friends, delicious food, and challenges of the trail, our trips invite trekkers to take part in journeys of personal development and growth.

Exploratory and free-spirited in nature, each trip is carefully designed to foster stewardship, empowerment, community, and fun.

Blue Ridge Adventure- North Carolina

July 3-10. Ages 15-18. $850

Enjoy eight days of action-packed fun in the Appalachian Mountain Country of North Carolina and Georgia! Learn essential backcountry skills as you: hike the highest peak in the eastern U.S.; backpack the pristine Shining Rock Wilderness of Pisgah National Forest; slide down a natural 60 foot “Sliding Rock” waterslide; and raft the Chattooga River’s thrilling class III & IV whitewater. This breathtaking journey through the Blue Ridge Mountains offers an unforgettable wilderness experience.

Summits & Splash- North Carolina

July 13-16. Ages 12-14. $400.

Gain backcountry skills and get energized with 3 days of trekking. You’ll hike over Blue Ridge “balds” and across mountain streams as we backpack in Pisgah National Forest’s Shining Rock Wilderness. Cool off in the refreshing waters of Looking Glass Creek after experiencing the thrill of a 60-foot natural “Sliding Rock” waterslide. Before returning home, we spend our final night enjoying a campfire celebration under the stars.

Walls and Falls Overnight

July 19-20. Ages 12-14. $100.

Explore the Walls of Jericho, a North Alabama canyon once frequented by frontiersman Davy Crockett, and home to countless endangered fish and plant species. This overnight backpack trip boasts refreshing waterfalls and a natural swimming hole, perfect to rejuvenate in after trekking the steep canyon trail. Learn basic backcountry skills and cook supper over a campfire, before settling down to a hard-earned night’s rest under the stars.

Summits & Splash AL

July 23-26, Ages 12-14.
July 30- Aug. 2, Ages 15-18.
$300.

Spend three days backpacking the highest points in Alabama, covering diverse terrain including forested trails, boulder fields, and rocky bluffs. Learn the basics of backpacking and prepare gourmet backcountry meals as we explore the Cheaha Wilderness of the Talladega National Forest. On day three, hike out of the woods to cool off with a refreshing swim and a final picnic to celebrate the successes of our journey.
