Our Land, Our Farms, Our Farmers

LLa — MNR Showdown in Perth

by Randy Hillier, President, Lanark Landowners’ association
Tuesday, September 6, 2005

On September 7, 2005 the landowners will once again demonstrate our opposition to injustice. In an effort to discredit farmers and deflect the bureaucracy’s incompetence the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources (MNR) has charged two farmers and Landowners while protecting their property. These frivolous charges are a bureaucratic abuse of the legal system. John Vanderspank has been charged with hunting groundhogs, hunting deer without a license and transferring deer removal authorizations.

The MNR has lost the public relations battle and the political battle to prevent farmers from protecting their crops and now seeks to misuse and abuse the legal system to further their ends.We can not allow the MNR bureaucracy to harass and intimidate area landowners with this abuse of the justice system. John Vanderspank and Larry Reid have spent countless hours helping landowners and farmers battle government wrongdoing, its now time to stand up in their defense.

On September 7, show your displeasure and demonstrate your resolve to have justice at the Perth courtroom (Gore Street, Town Hall). The trial starts at 9:30 am and may last all day.

The landowners will surround the courthouse with tractors and vehicles starting at 7:30 am. Please put a Back Off Government sign, in your vehicle. The day will include many displays of our peaceful civil disobedience and determination to hold bureaucrats and the legal system accountable.

Bring your family, friends and neighbors September 7 to Perth. Come for the day or come for an hour and put an end to this abuse.
