Cynthia McKinney, Congress

Just because you're Paranoid doesn't mean they won't elect you

The most charming, albeit alarming, fact about covering the United States House of Representatives is that its members really do reflect the populations that they serve. Over the years we have had men of brilliance who have had to serve, inexplicably, along-side the most dim-witted and misbegotten. Regardless, the one thing that most members of Congress do have in common is at least a rudimentary cognitive ability. There is one exception to that rule, however, and her name is Cynthia McKinney (D-Ga).

Worldwide, Rep. McKinney may best be known for being one of the three members of Congress to recently vote for the immediate withdrawal of US troops from Iraq. In explaining her zeal to create a power vacuum in Iraq, Rep. McKinney declared: "Research shows a 100% correlation between suicide attacks and the presence of foreign combat troops in a host country. and experience also shows that suicide attacks abate when foreign occupation troops are withdrawn. The US invasion and occupation has destabilized Iraq and Iraq will only return to stability once this occupation ends." It seems that Rep. McKinney doesn't know either her history or her current events. When Israel withdrew their settlements from the Gaza strip, suicide attacks on Israel did not end. as recently as October 26th, six Israelis were killed in a suicide attack in Hadera. Rep. McKinney must have also missed the recent reports of the suicide attack on a Muslim wedding in Jordan by Iraqi terrorists. Maybe someone needs to explain to Ms. McKinney that Jordan isn't involved in the "occupation" of Iraq. In fact, they were actually opposed to Iraq's liberation by the United States.

Rep. McKinney's support of the enemy during her nation's time of war is nothing new for the congresswoman. after the United States was attacked by suicide bombers on September 11th 2001, she had the audacity to imply that President Bush had advance knowledge of the attacks. In a radio interview at the time, McKinney stated: "We know there were numerous warnings of the events to come on September 11th. . . . What did this administration know and when did it know it, about the events of September 11th? Who else knew, and why did they not warn the innocent people of New York who were needlessly murdered? . . . What do they have to hide?"

It was McKinney's belief that Bush had benefited from the World Trade Center attack because, "an administration of questionable legitimacy has been given unprecedented power…What is undeniable is that corporations close to the administration have directly benefited from the increased defense spending arising from the aftermath of September 11th." (So did Michael Moore's holdings in Halliburton, but no need to get picky about it.)

Comments like this are the trademark of McKinney's congressional career. Rather then attempting to help her impoverished constituents, she has wasted her time in public office accusing the United States Government of murdering its own citizens. This year, Rep. McKinney introduced the Martin Luther King Records act (H.R. 2554), which would open all government records into the assassination of Martin Luther King. Rep. McKinney claims that the reason for opening these files is that the United States Government wanted, "to neutralize the black leader--in the words of the CIa--assassinate, and then replace that leader with someone whose skin color was black, but whose loyalty was to their plan and not us." Maybe Rep. McKinney can enlighten us as to whom this new, black Manchurian Candidate was: Jesse Jackson, al Sharpton, or the anti-american, anti-Semitic, UFO abductee Louis Farrakhan?

When the Martin Luther King Records act failed to gain acceptance in Congress, Rep. McKinney turned her rapt attention to our government's apparent effort to destroy the Hip-Hop community by covering up "the truth" behind the murder of famed sex offender Tupac Shakur. Cynthia McKinney believes that Shakur was under surveillance by the FBI and other governmental agencies at the time of his murder.

It is no mystery where Rep. McKinney inherited her colossal mental acuity and finely honed antennae for truth. When her father, Billy McKinney, was asked by a member of the press why the congresswoman had failed to get endorsements from prominent Democrats he eloquently concluded: "[The] Jews have bought everybody. Jews, J-e-w-s." Well, I hate to break her daddy's heart but even the most self-loathing Democrat knows better than to cast their lot with Cynthia McKinney; it's too bad that her constituents do not.
