Cannes Film Festival, Da Vinci Code deception

FaTHER HEFFERNaN'S OFF TO CaNNES FRaNCE

Father B.F. Heffernan
Tuesday, May 9, 2006

(a lot of people are grousing about the soon-to-be released, The Da Vinci Code. Canadian priest, Father Bernard F. Heffernan, will be right on site when the film is released at the Cannes Film Festival on Tuesday, where he will launch The First Religious Music Festival Cannes, 2006 at a church directly across from the Festival pavilion.)

Maybe it was the recent Willie Nelson show in Peterborough that sparked Father Heffernan's getting "On The Road again". Whatever he is doing just that. This time however it's not Nashville Country music nor the hil billy twang that beckons him, but the the big annual Film Festival in Cannes France, which showcases all the new movies that are coming out this year. To promote their movies the companies bring their big stars like Tom Hanks to be interviewed by 4000 reporters from around the world. among them will be Father Heffernan with his Press and Media pass dangling from his neck mingling with the movie stars, and moguls, pounding away on his laptop for three hours a day,and emailing his daily columns back across the atlantic to over 300 Canadian newspapers as well as some american ones.

For two or three weeks Father Heffernan has been busy preparing to go to the the holiday spot on France's southern Riveria. But not to holiday. For a dozen years his work with the Country Music awards took him to Nashville, New York, Western and Eastern Canada, but he only recently heard of Cannes, France. a travel agent has him on a plane tonight (Tues) bound for amersterdam and then on to Niece, where a bus will take him on an hours ride along the Mediterranean Sea to Cannes.

The movies will all be shown in the Pavillion. Now what would a priest be doing at this film Festival. You've heard of the Da Vinci Code which will be shown on the opening night on May 17. The book and now the movie has a lot of Christians up in arms all over the world because of the harm it is doing to gullible youth. How bad is it? Many who have read the book think it's a pack of (bleep) lies and that it is poorly written. My Masonic friend Sean Eyre agrees that if they ever wrote or filmed the same about Moslems, that a lot of heads would roll ≠ literally.

Thus I am going to Cannes to see the film and to let people know the truth. If I am not in the pavilion on opening night, I'll be across the street in the church hall of Notre Dame du Bon Voyage, showing movies on two large TV screens, movies such as "The Da Vinci Deception" "The Da Vinci Hoax" and the "CBS TV 60 Minutes".

On the walls will be displayed posters (some blown up by John Hart of Peterborough's Lazer Graphics), and flyers showing where to find the Da Vinci Truth on the Internet. Meantime in the church there'll be songs and prayer ≠ all going on for two weeks during the Festival. This is what I and Heaven arranged all by phone with people who only speak French. I couldn't have done it without Heaven and my faithful interpreter, Christine Capsey from Bridgenorth.

Speaking of faithful you'll remember the Lone Ranger with his faithful companion Tonto and his faithful horse Silver. Well I have to close for now because my faithful driver Baptist retired O.P.P. officer Bill Bubba Green is waiting at the door to take me to the airport. "Hi O Silver".

Thank you and God Bless

Father Heffernan
