Sheehan, George Bush, Hitler Stephen Harper

Simple Cindy

Earlier this month, Cindy Sheehan wrote a blog entry (brickburner.blogs.com) wherein she chronicled her trip to Canada. after making the obligatory comparison of George W. Bush to Hitler and the Third Reich and noting that Stephen Harper is trying to be just like the american president, Sheehan goes on to expound on the political situation in Canada and about how Canadians feel about the Conservative government and the country's mission in afghanistan.

Sheehan's analysis of Canada is proof positive that she is nothing more than a simple-minded woman who is being manipulated by those on the far left for their own purposes and is incapable of understanding the intricacies of the geopolitical world.

What is notably absent in her relatively lengthy diatribe about our war mongering nation is any mention of the Liberal Party. as anyone with even a cursory knowledge of Canada knows, it was the Liberal Party that committed our troops to afghanistan after the attacks on 9/11. More importantly it was the Liberal government that changed the nature of Canada's mission in afghanistan, having the troops leave the relative safety of Kabul to join Operation Enduring Freedom in Khandahar. Those in Canada who were paying any attention to the Liberals during the dying days of their reign (and there were probably not many)remembers then-Defense Minister Bill Graham saying time and time again that the nature of the mission was changing and warning Canadians that they could expect to see more casualties. although Stephen Harper and the Conservatives fully support the commitment of troops in afghanistan, they are in no way responsible for the current deployment of troops. No doubt Cindy's terrorist sympathizing friends just forgot to mention this to her.

Sheehan wrote, "[Harper] is wildly unpopular from coast to coast up north…" Wildly unpopular? While it is true that the chances of Stephen Harper being remembered by future historians as Canada's most popular prime minister are extremely remote, the government's increase in the polls since the January 23 election seems a tad strange for a man that is "wildly unpopular". Harper's minority government could end up being defeated at any time, but it is a pretty safe bet that the government's defeat will come about as a result of a vote on a money bill where all the opposition parties agree that there just isn't enough money being spent on daycare or puppy care or other such social spending. Contrary to what Sheehan and her single issue Canadian advisors believe, the Stephen Harper government will not be defeated over Canada's military commitment in afghanistan.

Sheehan further opines "Canadians are distressed that defense spending rose by 5.3 billions of dollars (roughly what the US spends for 2 weeks in Iraq) while the preschool budget is being cut and college tuition is rising." Here again she is absolutely clueless. Except for her far left kook Canadian friends, no one is seriously complaining about increased spending for our seriously under-funded military. Canadians know that the Conservatives put an end to the always promised but never delivered national daycare program because they don't believe in it--the proposed government control of bringing up children was not cancelled due to lack of money. The funding of national daycare and the military never was a guns or butter issue. Yet Cindy seems to think that she knows Canada and purports to know how Canadians view their government. She doesn't--and she never will.

Sheehan gives a good insight into her thinking processes (or lack thereof) in her blog entry. She states that as americans "volunteer" for service in the armed forces, they should be able to "un-volunteer". after all she had joined volunteer organizations and was free to un-volunteer. She simply lacks the grey matter to understand that the word volunteer has different meanings that depends on the context in which it is used. Volunteer in a military sense means as opposed to being drafted; in a charitable context it means working for nothing as opposed to being paid.

There really cannot be any doubt that Cindy Sheehan is simply a pawn of the america-hating, Western civilization-hating, far left fringe.
