Members of Bangladesh's elite force, Rapid Action Battalion arrested six members of the Ghaer-e-Ehsar (suicide squad) of banned Islamist terrorist group Jamaatul Mujahedin Bangladesh (JMB) from Narayanganj town, only 25 kilometers from the capital Dhaka and recovered huge quantity of detonators, power gel and jihadist pamphlets.

According to RAB sources, members of the squad were sheltered in a local madrassa (religious school), wherefrom they were preparing for offensives on political parties with the ultimate goal of sabotaging January 22nd general election in Bangladesh. During initial interrogation, leader of the captured ring, Abdur Rahman said, they have instructed members of their Majlish-e-shura (advisory council) and other members in the district and sub-district level to get organized to launch offensives on different political leaders belonging to a particular political party. JMB has also decided to extend its support to Awami League led grand alliance as it feels that re-election of BNP led coalition to power would cause in execution of several kingpins, who are awaiting death penalty.

An official of the Rapid Action Battalion told the members of press that, with the earlier arrest of several kingpins of JMB like Shykh Abdur Rahman, Siddiqul Islam Bangla Bhai etc., does not mean that the total force of this banned Islamist militancy group has been totally eliminated. RAB is continuing hunt for remaining bases and members of JMB through its various wings and the latest arrest is only result of such continuous process.

JMB denounces the existing judicial system in Bangladesh and demands its replacement with Shariah law. Leaders of this notorious group had been trained in Afghanistan, Palestine, Lebanon and other Middle Eastern countries, where Islamist militancy are very much in existence.

Bangladesh government led had to announce multi-million Taka reward for capturing a large number of top level figures of this notorious group.

Meanwhile, it is learnt that, JMB's suicide squad members have instruction from their Supremos of secret assassination of a number of eminent figures of recent past BNP led coalition government, which includes former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia, state minister for Home Affairs Lutfozzaman Babar, law minister Moudud Ahmed and Prime Minister's son Tareq Rahman.
