A Paradox In the Fortune Cookie?

Having dined on Chinese food last evening, my dessert was held for this morning’s breakfast.  Carefully opening the Fortune Cookie, so as not to tear the document inside, I removed it for what would normally be a cursory view.  The small paper said “Egg Roll” in English and with some Chinese symbols pronounced “chun juan”, the Mandarin or Cantonese lesson was complete for today.  Reversing the paper for my fortune it stated, “Don’t kiss an elephant on the lips today”.  Well, no trips to the zoo were in the schedule, so contemplation was in order for its application.  I had intentions of personally following those instructions but headlines in the news media seemed to indicate some were giving other impressions.

Who Is My Caesar? A Question of Authority

We are living in perilous times.  Many Christians are trying to determine what their role should be in the arena of civil unrest.  Jesus commands us to give to Caesar the things that are Caesar’s and to God the things that are God’s.  Peter says honor the king and the king he was referring to was the Caesar, Nero, who was a persecutor of the church.  Paul tells us to submit to the governing authorities.  Therefore, as a Christian, I must, in good conscience, answer the questions, “Who is my Caesar?” and “What is my obligation to the state and to its leaders?”

Those Unhinged ‘Tea Baggers’ Are so Un-American

I am about sick to my stomach over all the ill-tempered protest signs and the over-the-top rhetoric from all these “tea baggers,” man. It’s a good thing that the left is so patriotic and level-headed. Why THEY would NEVER act like morons, half-wits, and the unhinged.

Abortion and Amnesty – The Hypocrisy Twins

It is said that all young ministers are bubbling over with the need to say something. It is also followed with the hope that one day when they are more mature; they may actually have something to say. After years of pondering it, here’s something I’m sure, must be said.

Obama Energy Announcement: More Imported Oil, Less Domestic Production, Fewer Jobs

Washington, DC – Earlier this morning, President Obama delivered remarks at Andrews Air Force Base on offshore energy exploration and production, and what a scene it was. While many newspapers and cable news pundits cheered the announcement as a positive development, we at the Institute for Energy Research caution lawmakers, the media, and the American people from rushing to conclusions until all the facts are on the table. This is a huge step backward for America’s energy security.

Bill Clinton’s Massive War Chest

Many Americans believe Bill Clinton has spent his years away from the White House simply enjoying the good life of an ex-president. He gets a full security team; travel expense around the world; a cool presidential library equipped with full living quarters; the best tables at the fanciest eating establishments; huge speaking fees to share his own two cents worth of opinion on any given issue; he gets to show his face on television as an appointed spokesman for the latest disaster relief project; and sometimes even gets to represent the United States at some international meeting.

A case for revolution

Declaration of IndependenceFollowing the Democrats’ undemocratic passage of Obamacare, a number of Americans decided to take their anger and disappointment to the next level.  Members of Congress, both Democrats and Republican, received threats, had office windows broken and one Republican even had a bullet fired through his window.

Never failing to grasp an opportunity for political gain, no matter how tenuous, Democrat functionaries blamed Republicans and their “shadowy right wing supporters” for all the violence, despite the fact that members of both sides were on the receiving end.  And like a trained poodle, House Minority Leader John Boehner condemned the violence.

Bogus MLA Pay Freeze Outed

VANCOUVER: The Canadian Taxpayers Federation (CTF) today called the MLA salary freeze that takes effect tomorrow “bogus” because the MLA base salary would have stayed the same in 2010 without the freeze. The CTF further called for a rollback of the 2007 MLA pay hike to start bringing the cost of government into line with taxpayers’ ability to pay.

Embedded Black Says Tea Parties Not Racist

Hi Folks, Lloyd here.

Day two of Tea Party Express tour III. Yesterday, we launched in Searchlight NV, Harry Reid’s town. Sarah Palin was awesome as usual. Even though I had just performed and was still standing at the foot of the stage, I only got to chat a bit with Todd, Sarah’s husband. Great guy! The Secret Service and the crowds, made it almost impossible for me to get to Sarah. Still, I was able to make eye contact and a brief handshake with Sarah. The people absolutely LOVE HER.

Obama To Take Over Control of College Textbooks?

Candace de Russy over at National Review posted an alarming example of Obama power grab. Or perhaps more precisely it’s yet another alarming example of an Obama power grab. This time Obama apparently is setting the table to take control of what is printed in our nation’s college textbooks.
