It's a "common sense" measure that, according to the anti-gun zealots, is worth imposing on America if only one life can be saved by it. Never mind that those who are targeted with the registration are law-abiding individuals, for otherwise they would not have passed the background check that is required for lawful acquisition of a firearm.
