President Donald Trump’s campaign adviser said the team is aiming to present evidence during a potential congressional debate on Jan. 6 if lawmakers in the House and Senate object to states’ Electoral College votes. After the objection, an hours-long debate will occur.

The 12th Amendment Plan: A Pence Path to a Contingent Election

In the past several days pro-Trump pundits began floating the idea that Vice-President/President of the Senate, Mike Pence, actually possesses plenary power to accept or reject Electoral votes he believes are fraudulent or fraudulently certified.  These Trump-supporters point to the 12^th Amendment as the basis for this allegation. However, an unbiased reading of the 12^th Amendment does not at first glance support this perspective. But... recent scholarship makes a compelling case for the assertion that the 12^th Amendment indeed grants the Vice President/President of the Senate such plenary powers over acceptance of Electoral votes. 

The UN’s Inglorious 75th Anniversary Year

The United Nations was planning a grand celebration of its 75th anniversary to kick off the annual high-level UN General Assembly Week last September. Instead, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the UN had to settle for a mostly virtual event. There really wasn’t much to celebrate anyway. The UN system overall continued its pattern during 2020 of a bloated bureaucracy attempting to establish its relevancy with meaningless resolutions, pronouncements and expensive programs.

Australia’s Wind Issues- The Canary in a Coal Mine For Other Countries?

The newest and biggest wind project to date in Australia is to undergo major repairs after faults were found in its commissioning process. Wind turbines at the Coppers Gap wind farm in Australia had to be repaired or replaced before they were even put into service. (1) The blades of one of the 123 turbines will have to be replaced entirely, while GE Catcon is also going  to replace 'generators'- referring to the equipment in the nacelle at the top of the wind tower —in a further 50 turbines.  

Fear of Global Cooling and Falling Iguanas

A tweet from the National Weather Service in Miami: "Brrr! Much colder temps expected for Christmas. Falling iguanas are possible".  On Christmas Day, the Associated Press reported: "With unexpectedly cold weather in the forecast and pandemic-related curfews. Florida is about to have a Christmas unlike any other in recent memory, and it may involve falling iguanas."  It seems that the lizards which are cold-blooded like to sleep in trees. But when it gets unusually cold their body temperature drops enough, they go sort of dormant. And in losing their grip fall from the branches. Without warning, which was part of the weather alert that temps could be the lowest in some 21 years.
