High Inflation and the Dollar’s Velocity of Circulation

A friend had asked me recently about the velocity of circulation of money in an inflationary economy like ours. Velocity of circulation of money is better understood through the quantity theory of money model. Our dollar is deemed fiat money because our government said so a long time  before people began questioning the out-of-control printing of it. The dollar has not been backed by gold since 1971 during the Nixon administration. The dollar is only worthy because the government says so and we must take its word for it. Fiat means "let it be" in Latin.

Promises, Promises

Promises are easy to make and hard to keep.  I'm living in my eighth decade.  For all of my adult life, the career Marxist Democrat professional politicians and their race hustler co-conspirators have made the American Black community promise after promise about how they will make life better for them.  They make loud, big mouth promises that this time, they will make life better. Several Americans may not even realize that Saturday is one of the official components of MIlitary Appreciation Month, or that the month of May has such a designation. Nevertheless, Armed Forces Appreciation Day is a legal holiday. It is commemorated on the third Saturday each May. The holiday was established during Harry Truman’s administration as part of the National Security Act of 1947. However, the extreme irony engulfing this holiday in 2022 is another Democrat in the White House is unraveling the genuine intent to foster appreciation for the Armed Forces that President Truman had initiated.

The 2022 Acura RDX is a mostly terrific mid-sized luxury SUV that goes head-to-head with some pretty high-powered competitors from around the world. The vehicle, now in its third generation, balances luxury and style with performance, while adding Honda/Acura's usual annoyances that try very hard to suck out any of the joy the driving experience might otherwise bring you. And that's too bad. I've always liked the RDX – it's more my size of vehicle than its big brother the MDX, for example, more like a Porsche Macan compared to a Cayenne. Not that I want you to think the RDX can go head-to-head with that lovely SUV (well, to be fair, I haven't driven a Macan since the model first came out, so Porsche may have ruined it as well, though I doubt it), I'm just putting it into market perspective.
