Comparing Business Investment per Worker in Canada and the United States, 2002–2021

CALGARY—Business investment per worker—a key driver of income gains and living standards—has declined in Canada since 2014, finds a new study published today by the Fraser Institute, an independent, non-partisan Canadian public policy think-tank.

“The prosperity of Canadians depends in large part on the strength of business investment, so poor investment performance is bad news for workers,” said Tegan Hill, senior economist at the Fraser Institute and coauthor of Comparing Business Investment per Worker in Canada and the United States, 2002–2021.

As Biden Falters, Trump Looks Even Better

In politics today, the biggest rock star remains Donald Trump and it is not even close. At the “Faith and Freedom” conference last weekend, President Trump received thunderous applause.

When one of his rivals for the 2024 GOP presidential nomination, former New Jersey Governor Chris Christie, criticized him, he was loudly booed. In contrast, when North Carolina Lt. Governor Mark Robinson, a rising GOP star, endorsed Trump, the crowd cheered and rose to their feet.

Among Americans, Trump is the main attraction, the candidate with the most support and the unquestioned leader in the 2024 race for the White House. According to the latest Harvard CAPS-Harris poll, Trump leads President Joe Biden by a margin of 45-39%.

Government accused of Orwellian misinformation over claims ‘green levies will bring down energy costs’

London, 28 June - Net Zero Watch has accused 10 Downing Street of Orwellian-style misinformation over its absurd claim that shifting green levies back onto energy bills “will help bring down energy bills over time."

As reported by the Sunday Telegraph, the government is silently reapplying the cost of green levies to domestic consumer energy bills, reversing the decision taken under the Truss government to fund these costs from general taxation.

Dark Reality Of This Television-Obsessed World

I wrote several of the earliest articles on this absolute fact. My family and I stopped watching television 35 years ago, and we have never looked back.

I can qualifiedly tell you that, today, I am surrounded by millions of absolutely moronic strangers.

Back in '87, when people heard I had thrown away our tv, the word on the street was that I was crazy and a religious fanatic. They said my kids would grow up stunted, and that they would be frustrated ignorant rebels when they reached adulthood. Anyone who knows my family knows that is so far from the truth--it's ridiculous.
