Anderson man, who warned of jihad, sentenced to 30 years for using homemade explosives


The person arrested after at least two suspicious packages were found near Travis Road and Little Mountain Road in Anderson appeared in federal court Monday in Greenville. Wesley Dallas Ayers, 27, whose address is Travis Road in Anderson according to public records, appeared in front of U.S. Magistrate Judge Kevin F. McDonald. The charges against Ayers were not announced, but the U.S. Attorney's Office moved to unseal the complaint and arrest warrant against him. Prosecutors did say that Ayers was found to have an unregistered firearm, which is a violation of federal law. An Anderson man who pledged allegiance to the Islamic State has been sentenced for using weapons of mass destruction after authorities found several homemade explosive devices around Anderson County. -- More...
