George Orwell’s futuristic 1949 novel 1984 has come to be a reality in North America in 2022. We now have governments that are way too capable of monitoring far too much of our everyday lives with technology. We know this because of how the government hounded President Donald Trump, even when he was still a candidate. This was the perfect demonstration of what Orwell warned us about when unethical people get their hands on the reins of power and the capabilities of a government.
