City of Victoria CANCELS Canada Day, citing residential school tragedy

The City of Victoria Council has unanimously voted to cancel Canada Day according to the local CTV affiliate. The cancellation comes after the recent discovery of the remains of 215 children at a Kamloops residential school location.
Instead, "the city will produce a broadcast to air later this summer guided by the Lekwungen people and featuring local artists, that explores what it means to be Canadian, in light of recent events."-- More...
